This was the maiden voyage of the Crawler Hauler and Bugout Camper! I wanted to take advantage of the recent good weather we were having, if only for a short time. I'm gonna make some tweaks here and there but overall this should be ready for some major trips this summer. I hope you guys are ready!

I guess there's about a billion KZbin channels with this sort of content. But the reason I tuned back in was just because a few months ago I saw you set out to build something you wanted to build and now you have gone and built it. I like that sort of thing. Doesn't matter much what it is. Well done on building something you wanted to have.

Nice build. You might consider some type of shade cloth that would allow you to “enclose” the rear cargo area to provide shade while stationary. It should be pretty easy to attach to the upper deck that you could roll down when needed. Do it on both the left and right sides and just deploy as necessary.

You do so much modification already, that this shouldn't be a big deal, but you should really consider some tie down points on the trailer that will allow you to tie the jeep down by the wheels or axles. Body tie downs are incredibly dangerous as they allow the suspension flex to effect the load securement (i.e. going over a big bump, the suspension will squat, loosening the straps, and then snap tight again as the suspension rebounds). This can easily cause a securement failure or premature wear. Just my $.02 from a once-upon-a-time trucker. Freaking love the build though. Wishing now I had bought a trailer just a couple feet bigger so I could do the same kind of thing! Keep up the good work and the videos on your fabrication of this beast, and the next one I'm sure you're gonna build for the JLUR.

Love your setup. I'm really considering copying what you've done. One thing did stick out to me and that was the way you have your Jeep strapped down. I would also suggest strapping to the axles or some other point of unsprung mass on the Jeep. If you were to hit a big bump and the jeep suspension compressed, the resulting force from uncompressing could break a strap.... just my 2c but by all means whatever works for you works. I LOVE the build. I’ve been following it for a while. Makes me wish I would have sprung for a longer pj trailer instead of my 20' haha
@Hickeyjones
@Hickeyjones 3 жыл бұрын
Great job on the trailer. Another reason to strap the axles down versus the frame body is ride quality and less wear and tear on trailer components. I've built several trailers for Jeeps, and the Jeep suspension will soften the harshness on every pothole your trailer hits. That equates to fewer trailer tire and trailer axle issues.

I don't know if you have any issues with flying insects or wind/rain but maybe an addon of either a roll-down net screen and/or a roll-down water-resistant/proof tarp (or awning material) walls for the sides/back of your hauler. Then even if the weather is not great you can still cook, relax, etc. You could even have a doorway with zipper, windows like some tents have, the list of ideas goes on and on.

@@CodeBrownProductions Yeah when you use straps as opposed to chains you definitely don't wanna cross, Gotta remember that even when tied down there is still a small amount of movement that happens, especially when the suspension flexes over bumps etc... having straps crossed can cause a heat build up and result in a strap failure,

Man that deck and fire pit is nice. Nice work so far. I still think you should consider either a drop down bed from the roof, either a brand name like euro loft or if you are up for a challenge a DIY version or even a murphy bed. A drop down bed would give you room for a coach/lounge are inside, a desk for video editing/working and indoor kitchen for those rainy ways when the rain comes sideways and you will be exposed to the elements if you cook on the deck. And a drop down bed also means you don't have to make your bed every morning/evening. Just hoist it up/down and catch them zzz's. Your deck and sky lounge is awesome man.

Yeah but I already have so much propane I would prefer the Propex heater.

@@CodeBrownProductions I do understand, propex goes for $800 - $900 where the diesel sells for $125 - $200 is all I’m saying plus you do have a diesel truck .

Dude awesome build. Wish I had your welding skills. Everything else I can just about do but welding I can maybe solder some low volt lol. I've been following this build since I found the channel. I bought a run down toy hauler that I went to more or less remodel. And upgrade.
