OMG if there was ever a beautiful group that deserve their flowers and every acknowledgement award is First Choice. I love these ladies that can sing and I'm so thankful for this post because no one talk about what these ladies contributed to the R&B culture. The voices is so powerful. Listen to Doctor Love. I will forever love and respect this powerful group that tore the roof off of the block parties and BBQ's. ♥

This group was sort of The Supremes of dance music back in the '70s and early '80s. However, their trademark was both that fabulous Philly Soul sound (Norman Harris/Ron Baker, producers) and the lead singer's distinct vocal chops. "Armed and Extremely Dangerous" was not a record one could easily ignore; it jumped out those big dance club speakers like a ball o'fire. I bought several of their 45s, several 12" dance singles, and a collection of their greatest hits. If you want to know what "disco" sounded like before disco blew up it's a great example.They were beloved of both DJs and the dancers; their sound was big, soulful, bright, funky as hell. "Doctor Love" was their biggest hit and the 12" single is great, but First Choice wasn't just a novelty song act. "Smarty Pants" , "Newsy Neighbors" and "Love Freeze" were all "social statement" songs in their way not unlike some of the Motown hits like "Love Child" or "Smiling Faces Sometimes". There was more to this group than just being another female dance act. Don't call their music "disco". They were doing their thing before disco became a national craze" in the mid to late '70s. This is a charming interview although the ladies seem either shy at first or suffering from jet lag.

That is right she was " The Voice " the Brand her vocal ad libs made them what they are...GREAT. Annette is an Original the other 2 are taking the bows for what Rochelle Flemming did for the game !

Exactly for Annette came in after one of the ladies left and I do have two albums with Ursula and Annette along with awesome Rochelle Fleming. I mean these ladies aren't being asked who was who and who was in the group as an original. No mention of Rochelle Fleming by the way. She was the VOICE of the group.

Redd Blitz I just did a survey on Facebook from TV One about the artist they are considering doing for Unsung. A multiple choice questionnaire of how disinterested up to very interested I would be in seeing certain artist featured on Unsung. First Choice was on the questionaire. My answer I chose was Very Interested. The Three Degrees, Chaka Khan, and Carla Thomas was some of the other artists that was on the questionnaire. So it's a possibility that we may be seeing Unsung First Choice episode in the near future.

@Jude Fenwick they were huge in the underground dance club scene in the '70s but didn't crossover to the R+B or pop charts too successfully as I recall. Their sound was custom made for the dance floor and they were stars in that genre.

Dull interview yes, but the groups clearly has a larger story that wasn't told here. The host did what she could but it would take a deeper level to bring out this groups story. I think culture and time reference needs to be brought in more. For example...Do they feel they are known as a disco trio/pre-club music/house music/..etc , etc. What about Chicago or New Jersey or who they worked with...there's more to the struggle that they didn't get to express.

I really enjoyed early disco and this group 1st choice was one of the best too bad they didn't keep going through the whole disco era because they were really really good
