Here it is, Brother. A classic from my teen years. I remember this music before it was called Disco. As a matter of fact... I remember when Disco was still considered "ghetto". In 1976, when I was 17 if you where in any club in Bedford Stuy if you couldn't dance some type of Hustle or Steppin with the sisters... you ended up standing at the sidelines wishing you knew how. (LOL) Then Saturday Night Fever came along and ruined it. Great movie about adolescence... lousy movie about dancin'. Sigh..

What was it called? Ghetto was the name of the music? What were the great underground tunes?

THE LEGENDARY EARL YOUNG ON DRUMS, RONNIE BAKER ON BASS, NORMAN HARRIS ON GUITAR SETS THE GROOVE ON THIS & MANY OTHER HIT TRACKS FROM THE 70'S PHILLY ERA. BAKER HARRIS & YOUNG AS THEY WERE KNOWN (B-H-Y) PLAYED ON MOSTLY ALL THE SALSOUL & MFSB SESSIONS.THEY KICKED ASS & PLAYED THEIR ASSES OFF. YOU COULDN'T STAY IN YOUR SEAT WHEN THEY PLAYED. THE DANCE FLOOR ALWAYS JAMMED.

My friend the transitions that take place by the time you make it from Motown to Salsoul could fill a book. From overall sound to the multi ethnic influences. Even the minds and hearts each spoke to. This music picked me, not the other way around.

1997 baby!!!! ...Sunday nights at Scorpio Lounge 2301 Freedom Dr. Charlotte, NC What ya'll know about it?!?! Grown people music! I was so drunk off some Gosling's Bermuda Rum (Dark and Stormy's), jumped in Mom's BMW and off to the club...I came up out that drunk with a QUICKNESS when this track began to play!!! Originally released two years before I was born.

i first heard this song at the Warehouse in the bronx in 1997. I assumed it was a new release until i went to a store to buy it and the guy behind the counter told me it came out in 1974.

I remember hearing it at the Warehouse as well. What awesome days those were! I forget the resident DJ's name but he kept me on the dance floor till the wee hours of the morning. But yes, this song came out back in the early 70's and how I wish we had more of this music today!

Lucky to be born in an era when nyc REALLY never slept. You could find a party any day of the week. Go through different neighborhoods: Brooklyn..The Blue Maze, Love People 2, Iron Rail. Then of course to do the hardcore shit at Zanz, Paradise, Loft...

Mousse T made the only remix/re-edits worth listening or dancing to (besides Tom Moulton's work with the original). If you realy love club soul from the seventies then you really should seek out Bennedetti's remix of Double Exposure's "10 Percent".
