Please subscribe if you enjoyed the video! (I'm so close to 1,000 subs!!! 😁😁) Thank You!! Possible mistake fare on 1/17 Was-Bos for $85/$95 right now! Literally the only day I see with ticket starting at $85

$94 in first class from Washington to Boston? What a deal! It can cost a lot more to ride regular coach on a regional sometimes on that route. You lucked out big time.
@SoloTravelSolTubeАй бұрын
Indeed! the highest I've paid for the Regional was like $118 haha

Hi. Enjoyed the video. Good job with the good business class fare and the terrific free upgrade to first class. A couple points: When you booked into business class and when you upgraded to first class, you should have been able to change your seat easily online, even though it would have been assigned for you earlier. Also, when comparing a flight over that route to the train, you need to factor how early you need to get to the airport before your fligth (versus just minutes early when taking the train) and, if you are traveling to and from the city centers, the added commute time to and from the airport. I'm not saying Washington to Boston is not faster by air, but it's not fair to compare only travel times without factoring in the travel to and from distant airports and the extra time needed at the airport before the flight.

Nice video! After using an upgrade coupon, tickets work the same as a regular ticket, so you are able to change seat assignment. Unless it's sold out of course. The 48-hour coupons offer better chances than the 12-hour ones.

Yea, I found out I was one of last two seats remaining 😂 I heard there's generally more room on the southbound one

Looks like they spruced up the DC lounge since I was last there about 13 months ago. The train, not so much. It's showing its age. I am eager for the new Acela trains to start service but I haven't heard any updates lately. They had been saying "2024" so time is running out.

Oh man, I wish I could have scored this! Instead I flew from DCA to BOS, which at least took less than an hour to takeoff and land :)

Yea I'd definitely recommend the Acela up to NYC, but going beyond that would require some additional motive like this deal!

Is first class worth the extras over business if I prefer comfort and privacy ? Traveling from NYC to Boston ... Btw I'm curious - can you not choose your seats? Thanks!
@SoloTravelSolTube23 күн бұрын
You can choose your seat, but in my case, there were only two seats left when I upgraded my ride (my seat and the seat next to mine) so I really had no choice there. Departing from NYC means you'd get to enjoy the Moynihan Train Hall's metropolitan lounge (pastries, sandwiches, salads during business hours), so that's a big plus. Since the first class ticket is fully refundable, perhaps you can purchase a ticket and see if a single seater is available to help you decide. If all you'll be doing is arriving right on time just to ride the train, probably not worth the extra cost. Acela's quiet car might be enough!

@@SoloTravelSolTube nice thank you. looks like business tickets doesnt have the option for single seater - so that might be the deal breaker for me
@FFred-us9tw15 күн бұрын
@@eeffocian88 single seats only exist in the first class car on Acela. Everything else will be 2 x 2 configuration.
@eeffocian8815 күн бұрын
@@FFred-us9tw thanks. I was keen to get a single seat but they were all booked. Turns out I got a 2 seater (side by side)... Hopefully there is still some privacy. I avoided the ones with table in the middle where you have to face someone beside you and in front of you

Business starts from 167$ for the next year August ... How ahead should I reserve?

Are you looking at all days of the week? Fridays and Sundays tend to be more expensive than the rest of the week. Also, sometimes I find there is a sweet spot of cheapness around the 3-6 month range. My personal suspicion is that there may be some discounts that need to be manually applied by people at corporate, and that said people don't start adjusting the fares until maybe 6 months before departure.

10+ weeks out is when things are generally cheaper! Perhaps your day of travel falls on some sort of event day with high demand 😞
