Every British train user wept when you said a first class ticket bought at such short notice was 'expensive' at that price! Considering the distance it covers and the incredible hard and soft product it gives you it struck me as a total bargain!

For us Japanese this is very pathetic. You know Tokyo to Sendai you can get there in 5000 yen pretty comfortably. Very short distance do you know geography of Japan? Regular first class seats called green seats of regular bullet trains are half the price. Similar foot space and nice seats. Train ride of this distance in Japan is about buying delicious bentos 🍱 at station and eating on a train. This is 20,000 yen for such short distance. Everything else looks like plane ride, which isn’t a train ride. So Yeah not great value for money. You have to know the values and what you can get as well as geography in Japan to understand if it’s a great deal or not. This isn’t necessary. And looks very much like business class plane ride only for an hour and half…pretty pathetic for us.

ランチボックスは懐石料理の八寸のように見えます。以前グリーンシャーは乗ったことがありますが、グランクラスはそれよりも豪華な座席のようです。来年また日本に行ったら搭乗したいです😀

The train's coupling may look small but it's actually extremely solid and sturdy, if you stood close to it, it would be around the size of your entire upper torso and probably heavier than a motorcycle.

@@ITSUKAJAPANTRAVEL Thank you Itsuka. On a personal note, my Grandad was an engine driver for 48 years, from the time of steam trains to eventually transferring to electric. In 1978, aged 80, my Mum arranged a special trip aboard the Intercity 125, then the fastest train here in the UK. They gave him a most wonderful day and I still have the commemorative photos and newspaper from it. He would have been equally intrigued and bewildered at such a marvelous train as the shinkansen, but I know he would have loved it.🚂

Absolutely awesome trip report here,i love trains.,would love to go to Japan someday even though it's a long flight from New Zealand.Going on these trains is a must have on my bucket list,the first class on this train incl service/comfort/food & drink looks more impressive than some first class cabins on various planes.You did a great job in the making of this trip report,it's a 10/10 from me!.
