"Only 500 acres" haha that would be a huge farm where I am. Beautiful machine sir, good choice.

It isn't 500 acres of land , the stuff at home will get cut 3 times and dryland once

We ran the exact same 1372 mower for years, great machine! Only reason we traded ours off is, we went to the larger 1375 mower. Big difference going from 13- 15.5 ft
@AndersonCattleCo
@AndersonCattleCo 6 жыл бұрын
I bet it speeds you up going to 15.5' With our irrigation we don't want to go too big or drying the swath will be a problem on a big crop. ( not a problem this year)

That's a nice looking piece of equipment you have there. Twenty years will go by faster than you know. Time seems to speed up so much as we get older.

Guy I work for has the 1383 Massey Ferguson mower. It’s the 13 foot cut model. It’s a nice mower we’ve been happy with it. Just mowed some 5 foot tall rye with it last week
@AndersonCattleCo
@AndersonCattleCo 6 жыл бұрын
The 1383 is 13' and it is surprising how much that extra foot speeds things up from cutting with the 12'.

The hay looks good for the year but the yield is so low from normal with all the dead spots, I will spray it out this fall. This equipment dealer is trying hard to get my business and are very nice to work with , and so far they are willing to help me out and with being so busy they told me your handshake is good enough for us, when you have time come in and we will sit down and figure out what you want to do.

I think my old one is 25 and it has cut a huge amount of dirt with our mole hills , I will keep the old one in case I have a chance to cut hay in a rocky field or an unknown field.

I like the steel rolls. They last a lot longer and I think they suck the hay through better. Sounds like u got a good dealer and that’s worth a lot

Yup the dealership wants the business and even the mechanic wanted me to know he works 24/7 just like farmers do.

What kind of setup did your neighbor have with that header mounted on his tractor?
@AndersonCattleCo
@AndersonCattleCo 6 жыл бұрын
He mounts one mower on his front 3 point and pulls a second mower. I'm sure at some point he will just buy a Big M.

They have one of those in Dalhart that they cant sell, no one uses them here. I know they would give a huge discount, I was thinking of selling my machine this spring and buying one so I wouldn't have to be running all the time for custom work
@AndersonCattleCo
@AndersonCattleCo 6 жыл бұрын
There are a ton of machines like yours and a bunch of Big M Krones going but people not chasing custom or don't cut 5000acres a year just use hydro swing mowers.

When we started our little 60 acre farm in Kansas our first baler was a 1980ish Heston square baler. How does it condition the hay?

@@AndersonCattleCo looks like a real pleasure to run, haying has always been the most enjoyable for me. Used to pull a Hesston hydro swing swather when I was younger and it was great. Definitely enjoy watching your farm vids bud, keep up the good work!

Would you not want to see your pressure gage from the tractor cab??
@AndersonCattleCo
@AndersonCattleCo 6 жыл бұрын
I would think it would be handy to see it. I'm going to read the book and set the pressure and then it probably can just stay there till I want to change it in a different crop. It does a heck of a job conditioning the hay.

I like them My old machine is so wore out so I need to do something, I considered getting everything custom cut this year because it would cost me 1/2 of the payment but it is hard to get custom work done when it works for you. On the new machine there is $15,000 off in programs.

Nice mower could you put grass in with that alfalfa for higher yield beef cows don't need dairy quality hay
@AndersonCattleCo
@AndersonCattleCo 6 жыл бұрын
I always plant 10% grass in with the alfalfa, that gives me the biggest yield with the highest quality feed. Grass takes huge fertilizer to grow and then you only get 1 cutting that yields big and then 2nd cut will be really late and hard to get baled dry. Alfalfa out yield grass here.

Green for go red your _____ed got a new rake tedder and baler this year and I hate learning how to use something new but it's always better then standing around the old one with a dumb look on your face and your wife says I saw smoke what's wrong with it and I go I don't know but it was making a hell of a noise then you spend an hour trying to find what's broken today and how do I get to it you can at least see how you it all works before buying I have heard Kubota was good there's two or three around here but a whole lot of Kuhn mowers they hold up good in rocks and terraces but Massey is supposed to make a real good conditioner from what I have seen we just use 3pt disc mowers here anything else and they get broke down on this rough ground but like the mower
@AndersonCattleCo
@AndersonCattleCo 6 жыл бұрын
I've used my friends Kubota and it was nice , but it didn't have conditioner rolls and I cut mostly alfalfa so I wanted conditioner rolls. Massey Hesston is king for mowers around here, Kuhn is pretty new here. My old Hesston is 25 years old so I had no problem buying another one. I don't have any New Holland support from my local dealership after it changed hands so I never even looked at a NH. My cousin is a JD dealer and there discbine was more than $20,000 CDN more than the Hesston , if I was trading off every 2 years it might be worth going green.

AndersonCattleCo. I run Vermeer Kubota and case and 1 Massey and I can call all of them and they tell me what it's going to take to fix or replace something and then my cutters are both Kuhn long as they work and are easy for me to keep in the field I m happy I can't stand trying to uncomplicate something in 100 degree heat it makes my sledge hammer and torch get antsy
