Well done mate! I’m about to do the same thing here in Aus with our iron bark logs. Gonna build a log cabin, that’ll test the mill out

Great video! I've had an 8-30 in the box for months, about ready to get it out and set up. I'm a little nervous about the adjustments/settings to cut boards, setting the first and subsequent cuts. I'm sure it comes naturally after a few boards and sawing a low quality log to figure it out might be the best way to start. Thanks for sharing Brad.

Definitely watch the videos on the DVD. They actually touch on almost everything.

Pro tip, when you start cuting longer heavier pieces, jam a wedge or 2 in your horizontal cut to keep the cut open as you get near the end. If you have a Tailer do your horizontal cut first and tail out from the other end.

HI Brad, thanks for posting this video. I have bought one second hand, but it is electric 8-15, what model it is yours? I want to convert it to petrol, found an vanguard 896 cc, 30Hp, what it is the size of your frame/cage where the motor gets fitted, green color? I asumme they are all the same. Can you share your experience, mistakes made?? Maybe another video?? Would be happy to hear about it. I see lots of video when people are cutting, but the most important is how you setup your logs, inside , where you place them , loading and so on. Not somany videos about this topic. Thanks, Ben

Mine is a model 7-23. I usually line up my logs side by side, raise the rails and roll them in position with cant hooks. I roll most up onto some 8" thick bunk boards in order to get them high enough that I can cut all the way to the bottom of the log. Biggest thing to watch for is not to try and swing the blade without being completely clear of the end of the log.

Hey Brad really looking hard at one of these. Couple questions would you recommend this mill? How long is setup and was the learning curve pretty steep? Did they send and info or video with it to learn? Not much info on KZbin.

Here is a link to the instructional videos: vimeo.com/channels/lucasmill/page:1 They also send a DVD and book with the mill. I would definitely recommend the mill. The setup is not bad at all. It's hard to answer on the learning curve since it really depends on your background. I was also lucky and had a couple of guys help me get started that already owned a Lucas.

I can pack mine in a 8x4 trailer in about 30 minutes.
