Ellis - i researched the chilli sauce as i am a bit of a chilli creek- the chilli sauce is usually water salt and caron chillis mashed with timbul which grows only at high altitudes, it's a bit like a Szechuan pepper bit different. The ladies allow it to ferment and it is bloody delish!

The best way to have sel roti is having with hot tea. Sel roti is fried in oil so therefore,hot tea will help a lot to digest and also help acidity problems

@@EllisWR my father in law was telling me a story yesterday. He had been traveling the world in his mid 20's with his then wife. They ran out of money but somehow managed to keep on moving around. They got homesick. So they decided to go home. And as the plane banked in over home... and he saw the crap weather and all the dreary, he realized he'd made a major mistake. Moral of the story. Going home sounds like a good idea. It was regretted before the wheels hit the runway. Just some wisdom from a wise family man.

Bro, i used to live there at that side boys hostel, beside everest Momo's, That momo and chilli soup with another one is best ever in town, go again and grab it with more jhol and chilli sauce, And i recommend you to baudhas area local chowmein try it in buff, buff is the best option over chicken, And Specially try the famous Newari's khaja set too,try to reach out with me for more, go with local first because in UK you wont got same vibes in nepalese cafe and restro.

Thamel is awful, we couldn't think of anything worse than spending our time with backpackers and being surrounded by people selling us stuff plus bars and western food
