First day of CLINICAL ROTATIONS. // yebin's ylog

Hey! My name is Yebin and I am a third year medical student at Monash University, currently on clinical rotations at Casey Hospital.
I've been waiting to publish this for a while- this is the first of my clinical rotation based vlogs!
I hope my vlogs can provide insight as to what it's like to be a medical student, especially for those interested in medicine in Australia.

Hey I was just wondering whether you guys do any clinical placements at Monash during first year? I just wanted to compare with other unis (like jcu) who are lot more clinical based, what are your opinions on this aspect for Monash Med so far?

Hey! The first 2 years of Monash Med is preclinical, meaning you spend the majority of time on campus at uni for workshops, tutorials, etc. The next 3 years is clinical, meaning you spend all your time at hospitals. This preclinical + clinical structure is the case for most (if not all) undergraduate medical degrees including JCU- as their course is 6 years, JCU students spend 3 years preclinical and 3 years clinical. However if you are eager to gain more clinical experience early, there is an opportunity for second year Monash Med students to go on a 2 week rural med camp (which you can find out more through my Monash Med placement week video)! Hope this helps.
