Phil saying he sat on the table in school reminds me of 9th grade English. We had those individual desks, and mine was in the back corner against a wall because that was literally the only place in the room where I could concentrate, but I was also short, so I spent that whole class sitting on the desk, back against the side wall, with my notebook on my lap so that I could see, and I'm so grateful that my teacher never questioned it. He was definitely one of my favorites.

I relate so much to Dalien. Interacts with the adults a lot, only interacts with other students when needed, and instantly b-lines for the most isolated places possible whenever there's down time. I also feel like him being like "I'm an alien" and the other guy being like "cool you want to hang out?" is very relatable to my autistic high school experience. I just showed up wholly maladjusted and weird on my first day after being homeschooled my whole life and having no innate social skills and people where like "hey there's something deeply wrong with you, want to sit with us at lunch?"
