I read that when introducing a new puppy to the home u should keep them in one area so they can get used to the house a little at a time. Is that no necessary? Asking because I'm hoping to get a puppy soon and super nervous.

It's really great that even when getting older, our Maltese still want to play, cuddle, and just be with us, as much as they did when they were puppies. Even my Snowy, who died from congestive heart failure in January, wanted to play whenever she felt able to do so, right up until the end.

I just rescued a 4 week old Maltese puppy on Friday. Took him to the vet immediately, they ran a bunch of tests and walked me through properly caring for him since he is still so young (he only weighs 1.3 lbs) - he is so cute and playful already. I’ve heard good things about this breed, so I’m looking forward to him growing up!

@@shaneluke346 these sketchy ppl were selling a litter on the side of the road in Tampa, FL. He hadn't eaten in two days, he was hypothermic, and under weight - so I made them a cash offer and took the dog from them immediately.

My heart always breaks for puppies taken from their siblings and mother. So important to empathize. Most adults don’t know that trauma. Love that you recognize this and focused on a smooth transition. So critical for the rest of his life. Sending love his way! 💗

I have had many puppies and as long as you give them plenty of love and safety they’re happy. Usually they love one on one attention and being in a litter they don’t get this. It’s all good.

This is why puppies SHOULD NOT be taken away too early from their MUMMY, DADDY BROTHERS and Sisters too soon about 8 or 9 weeks although to my mind that still seems too early posting from London ENGLAND ♿😘🐕

Got my first Maltese 18 months ago. What I love about them is that everything is about sweetness, even training them, they respond to sweet only. Always had Jack Russells before, Totally different animal, You can tell a Jack Russell off and they will learn, not so with a Maltese. Best feature is their round black button eyes, get you every time.

You're so fortunate to have Xanti. So happy for you. It's such a fun time right now. I can't believe how nasty some people can be. Criticizing your decision to purchase a pure breed and even telling you to clip his hair. Criticizing the breed. Maltese are not yappy. I recently lost my Maltese. He was 15. He had a happy healthy life right to the end. He never got sick and was full of energy. This house is so empty without him. He weighed only 8lbs but his personality filled the room. Muffin came from a private breeder. His pedigree afforded me the knowledge that he did not have any genetic illnesses. You made the right choice and it looks like you go above and beyond to take care of him. The little hair around his eyes should be left to grow till it reaches the length of the rest of the hair. Past his eyes, so you can eventually pin it back in a bow. If you keep trimming it, it will always be poking his little eyes. I wish you all the happiness. Enjoy your time together.

Why wasn't that the first thing you did when you got that baby in your home??? I am 55 yrs old n have had dogs my entire life. My uncle was a dog trainer. I have much experience. Please trim around that puppies eyes.

I got mine a kitty litter tray and put fake grass in it. Easy to clean and she taught herself to go outside in about two weeks. At night she barks at us. During the day we put in a cat door. No training problems here. She had 5 owners before us but they couldnt toilet train her or teach her anything. Patience and understanding of dog nature. Don’t lose patience with them, it makes them stress - learned by getting impatient with her stealing my nickers while I was in the shower.
