Do you ever feel confident enough to just be with him without the gear? He seems to be totally content here, like he's not even interested in you. I'm worried you're now a tad scared of him and I've been there, trust me. Now, nothing an iguana throws at me could phase me anymore. I've just adopted another one. Judging by this video you didn't have a bond back then. I find it such a shame, because they can be such loving animals. Once I approached my aggressive (similar to yours) boy with a different attitude (just calm and confident) things changed drastically and he became my best friend. Literally.

@@StellaDeleuze Thank you for sharing your story about your best friend 😊 Gives me hope that he can change a few years from now. When we got him as a youngster, he was very nervous about people approaching him. After a couple of months, he was climbing up my arms and legs and jumping on my back, because he liked to sit on me and interact with me. But after about a year he was an adolescent, getting into puberty and started to attack without warning. Send both me and my bf to the emergency room. I geared up to be able to handle him safely. In the spring and summer he calmed down and I attempted to gear down with the equipment. When this was recorded. I was almost certain he wouldn't attack, but took no chance, since an eventuality like that would make me let go of his leash Not long after this, whenever I take off my helmet, he just blows a fuse again and will hurt himself trying to get to my face. Now we have a caged gateway in his room, so I can walk in and see how he reacts I will have to keep trying from time to time, to get him to calm down. He definitely trusts that I won't hurt him. But it will take years for me to gain trust in him again.

@anjatrorup1612 I'd be happy to help you if you like. If he attacks without the face cover it's because it's new to him. Another thing is they face each other directly when fighting so you making eye contact means you challenge him. They can be absolute nightmares but you can work of making them understand you're his friend. I had a super close bond to my last boy. He was exactly the same in the beginning and turned on me over night. 10 years of horror and blood, and tears, and exhaustion. Then I changed and so did he.

@StellaDeleuze Thanks again. I know about how he sees eye contact as a challenge. If I come in the room and he starts to puff up. I will stand my ground and look slightly upwards. But his drive is too strong when he sees my naked face and it won't work then. Have rehearsed being indifferent to him when I sit in the gateway. But he scruffs his nose, trying to attack me. And I don't want him to hurt himself

You having to wear full security equipment is hilarious. Green Iguanas are horrible pets.

This is not the full security outfit. 😂 I've upgraded the outfit significantly since this video. See latest videos. Yes, iguanas are not good pets 👍 they should not be in the common pet trade. Took this guy in, from someone who realized they made a mistake.

@@anjatrorup1612 I 100% agree on that. They should not be sold as pets in shops. Only reputable breeders should sell them and only once they explained what keeping an iguana entails. It's not for the faint-hearted or quitters, that's for sure.
