What are the main differences in performance? A lot more torque down low you stated? On the dyno what is whp and torque? Does it feel like a brand new car to you? Thanks? Have the same vehicle as you, thinking about tuning. Did you throw any codes? What about spark plugs and coil packs? How many miles do you have?

Thank you! I think you’re right on the line there. I think anything made after July of 2020 has a locked ECU, so you’re right on the cusp. Maybe ask the tuning shop to run your VIN and see if the ECU is locked or not?

At the very beginning it was a bit noticeable, but now I never smell anything at all.

You can’t go wrong with getting one. Mine just crossed over 110k miles and I’ve had not one issue, even since the tune. I’ve put about 10k miles on it since getting the tune and it’s been just as reliable. Now, that could change when going up to a stage 2 or 3 tune. But so far the stage 1 hasn’t affected the reliability

Definitely still a BMW, and the history and options matter more than they would on say, a Toyota. You want something maintained like they were keeping it forever not like a rental lol. Mines at 60k, and already through first set of rotors (meaning second set of pads probably) rotors are expensive. I've got a driveline vibration that I suspect is the driveshaft. It's not terrible* but I'm aware of it. Engines and transmissions are tough if well maintained. Other than that weird vibration wouldn't hardly be able to tell it isn't new

Do you get your X3 serviced at a BMW dealership? Or do you get them somewhere else or do it yourself? Just want to know if bringing a tuned X3 m40i to a dealer will cause any issues.

I’ve only ever had bmw service it hav and have had 0 issues with it being tuned. Now, I don’t have a warranty, so if I did, that might be a different story. Getting it serviced while being tuned might void that. The nice thing about the MG flasher tune, is you can go back to stock in like 2 min, get the car serviced, then tune it again right after.

I might break down and get a 2019 as they are easier to find. The only things holding me back are the slightly less HP and no Android Auto.

Not sure if your aware, but 2020 G01 has NO android auto. Maybe the 5 or 7 series, but the X3 and X4 does not have AA. Also, note: the ECU on the 2021 is locked....= u cannot tune it using ODB port. My suggestion: get a fully loaded 2020 with great service records and if u feel the need to tune it, make sure you do/ already did a complete service: plugs/filters, oil change and decent pads and proper tires. @@d-block6136 Yeah, I'm trying to stay away from the 2021+ years since they are locked. 2020, produced before June 2020, is the one I'm looking for since they lock them going forward after that time. Just can't find any fully loaded to the T yet (ventilated seats, 20+inch wheels, m sport differential, etc.). I read 2020 X3 gets android auto via update since it has idrive 7, but not the biggest deal. Hopefully, I can find a certified one..

Mostly from the tune! The car stock had pretty decent backfires already, but it the tune made them even crazier.

The pops were pretty aggressive stock on the 2018 & 2019 models. In 2020 and newer they don’t pop nearly as much stock. And on my tune I can adjust how much it pops too. I think in this video they were turned to 80% but I have them at 20% now and it’s much more manageable / enjoyable.

I've was in the market for an X3M competition, but the roads here are bad, the suspension is too harsche and I prefered the low down torque of the B58 over the high revving S58 for my daily. Then looked at a X5 m50D. Still prefered the X3 M40i. It's nimble and fast. The perfect sweet spot in my opinion

To each their own! One nice thing about the MG Flasher Tune is you can adjust everything, including the pops and how aggressive they are. This video they were set to 80% aggressiveness, but for my daily driving I have them set to 20%. So no need to be disappointed. Just customize your car to how you like it!

Rolling road is better. Those plug and play maps are generic and not two engines will preform the exact same after the flash. Rolling road is custom for that car. And hold the brake for a second or two longer ti build that boost up on launch. Sick car I’m thinking about getting one in the near future ✌️ peace
