First DW SUP with Quick Blade Stingray 72 - Superior Foil Club

Downwind SUP Foiling on Lake Superior in Duluth, MN. Reverse run from McQuade Harbor to Stoney Point. The winds were light and swells small, made for a lot of pumping. This was my first time using the new Stingray Paddle from QuickBlade. I got the 72 and cut it to 70 inches - I am 72 inches tall and have my Ono Ava 105 cut to 72 inches. I think the Stingray is still a little long but I'll give it a few more sessions before cutting it down.

Hi Andy, How have you found the Stingray 72 over your 105? Do you find you can paddle quicker with the 72 and what are you using mostly these days now?

I like the faster cadence and less strain of the 72 better than the 105. The smaller paddle forces me to really get that catch near the nose of the board which ultimately increases the board speed and gets me going faster. I've been using the 72 since I've gotten it - I think I've done about a dozen runs with it now and like it better than the 105. I will say it helps having the pop up timing figured out as well!
