I feel for you dude. Ive been in your shoes. My 2011 ls3 vette dynod 419 rwhp 412 rwtq with an automatic, kooks long tube, hi flo cats, x pipe and cai. I swapped heads for “prc” , vengeance racing “kaotik” cam. Yank 3200 SS torque converter. Re tuned on same dyno, same shop . Made 495 rwhp and a measly 428 rw torque. Torque is what moves any vehicle from a dig. My car was quicker. But I gave up alot of drive ability. Spent 5k on all the swapping. And was so dissapointed. I ended up supercharging it and swapping the cam for a street friendly forced induction cam. On 7 psi. Car dynoed 688 rwhp and 556 rwtq. I learned its better to boost any vehicle for bang for buck. I wouldve spent 7 k only 2 k more to have boosted it from the beginning.

Have the valves checked at a machine shop. Just cause their new and expensive don't mean there good out the box. Also check the push rod height. Want to make sure their shutting and opening to their full potential. If the intake ports and bigger on the new heads you'll need to have them milled to bring the compression back up.

Naturally aspirated 323 cubic inches making 1.5 hp per cubic inch = 484 hp at the crankshaft... subtract 30% (145hp)for drivetrain loss and your at 339 at the tire... that's really good and your right on point for 323 cubic inches...

I highly doubt you'll find a problem... it's just the combo, a f.a.s.t intake might pick up another 20hp for $1,000 but without increasing the compression ratio significantly or cubic inch of the motor or adding boost, it is what it is.... at the end of the day it's only a naturally aspirated 5.3L motor... and they're pretty good in stock form...

I dropped my stock motor a couple years ago, and dropped in an LS327 crate motor. Not much different than the original LM7, except for a cam and valves, but supposed to put out 327Hp and 347ft-lbs. We dyno’d it and it put 292hp and 308ft-lbs to the tires with my stock transmission. I hate to say this, but that’s a problem with the dyno, not your truck. I mean, you can still check your compression and do what you need to do...but I find it hard to believe the stock motor put down those numbers with nothing more than some headers. With a 20% drivetrain loss, that’s closer to LQ9 numbers. Your truck sounds great, and I bet it runs fantastic.

Either way though, I look forward to future videos because I’m wanting to start getting some ideas on mods for mine.

That being said I watched your last dyno video and this one. I’m honestly betting on something in the first dyno run being setup incorrectly on the dyno giving you the 3xxwhp numbers with more Or less a stock truck. What gear is the tuner running it with? Out here in California on a stock 5.3 with bolt in’s only put out like 270ish to the wheels man your previous dyno shop you went to dyno could be way off a buddy of mine all motor LQ9 6.0 made 430 to the wheels today so don’t be to disappointed man

I have a 2006 been looking to do the same that said I would only make about 450 to the crank an around what u made to the wheels LSX performance shop in was telling me my stock 706 heads with some work done flows better then aftermarket truck flow heads an a btr stage 4 cam is to big to make numbers the motor just can do it without pro charging it or turbo is the only way to pull out the big numbers to the rear wheel

Yeah sounds like the wrong heads for your combo. Factory heads with some porting and polishing and milled down a little bit might be your best bet especially with factory flat top pistons

A dyno is just a tuning tool. Idk what all is done to the heads (im new) but if you opted for larger chambers you lost compression resulting in less power. I think 799 heads have 61.5cc chambers. If you did get heads with larger chambers you can have the heads milled down to up the compression
@jordancomeaux6888
@jordancomeaux6888 5 жыл бұрын
799 are 64cc, he went with prc 2.5 706 heads that are 59cc. You are correct thought the dyno is just a tool, one that people get bent out of shape over.

You want more power, bigger throttle body and injectors. You put a bigger cam in the motor it needs more force to get it started and more force to keep it spinning

I don’t understand when people buy “stages” for cams do the research look what durations and exhausts does the best for what you want and get what you need. You’ll be lucky to get 400whp naturally aspirated out of a 5.3 Pretty close but not quite. Need a turbo

No he’s probably right the 5.3 makes a lot more then advertised in these trucks I have a 99.5 Silverado that was tuned full exhaust intake minor custom grind cam with 3.73 rear gears and that 5.3 made more then his dynoed on 2 different dynos one down south from me and one 20 mins north of me the 5.3 from 99-02 made 305 at the wheels in most trucks and if it hasn’t been beaten on 24/7 then it can make more

gsxrred1000 I’m with you. 430 RWH equates to around 550hp at the crank with a stock transmission. I think the original dyno run with the stockish 5.3 may have been in error? Wait, over 400 crank hp from a stock 5.3 was an error. Your current numbers sound spot on.

How does it feel driving? It doesn’t sound like a Valve issue, I could be completely wrong but I think the numbers from before are kind of high, it’s gonna be hard to get more than 450 hp at the flywheel without a lot of compression which might make 360 wheel on a STOUT 5.3 so your issues may be not be as bad as you think, it sounded like it would like to rev more the heads and cam, won’t help low end and mid range much meaning the torque could be down. If hp was still climbing at redline, I’d rev it higher and see what happens

That's the numbers you should expect really with your setup. Your description says you are running the Diablo 87 octane. That's not right is it? I didn't hear you mention fuel or I just missed it. The Dyno graph would be able to show valve float issues. Especially since he bounced the Rev limiter a few times

Check your pushrod length, you're also running dished pistons and a combination of too much head and cam for the small bore.
