The dialogue between the two italian pilots at 3:00 is SO FUNNY Pilot 1: what's that thing that's coming towards us? Pilot 2: what? Pilot 1: there's a plane flying right towards us. OH F*CK - plane comes through - Pilot 1: **something in a dialect I don't understand** Pilot 2: Buddy did you see that? Pilot 1: Of course I saw it, it flew next to me

@coriscotupi9 жыл бұрын
+Ervin Underdown Very true. Incidentally, that Cessna seemed awfully fast on the taxiway, probably came out of nowhere into the the helo pilot's view and might explain his very sudden yank. I once had a good laugh when ground control asked a speeding Cessna on the taxiway: "Umm, november xyz... you're taking off right here and now?! Care to do it from the active runway instead?"

@tjp3538 жыл бұрын
Please video it. I hope you don't crash but in the unlikely event that you do experience a few minutes of sheer terror, the footage might survive and feature in one of these YT compilations. Like I said, I really hope nothing bad happens - but it might, so remember to assume the brace position, to better protect your teeth for dental record comparisons. You'll be fine, but just incase you're not, remember to keep a pen in your pocket. Vomit bags are good for writing farewell messages on and have a good chance of surviving even the worst impacts. Try to get a window seat near the back. Fire & engine failure is very unlikely, but if an engine does explode, you'll get some great footage of the fire & smoke trailing out behind the wing. I wish you a pleasant flight and don't worry, you'll be fine. Probably.

I don´t understand you guys. Why are you so rude on each other? When somebody has the luck and can be a pilot of some aircraft, he should be able to help and advise, for those unlucky ones or younger generation of potential pilots. Instead of it, you guys are making an unpleasant environment between those who fly and those who not, and in my opinion it is useless and not necessary. Sometimes I come here to check some nice vids with airplanes, what make me feel happy and then I scroll down to comments....... I know it´s utopian, but it would be nice, wouldn´t it? :-) (P.S. Sorry to author of this nice video for placing my comment right here, but I saw here some very very rude people..)

The TU-144's were not scrapped "...partially because of design and structural issues"; they were scrapped because they drank so much juice, they were unprofitable. They were faster than Concorde, but had to be flown with their engines on Full Re-heat for the entire flight. (Concorde generally needed Full Re-heat for take-off only). Also, the air-conditioning system used to cool the TU-144's outer fuselage skin produced so much noise, passengers had to shout to have a conversation. Of the seventeen TU-144's built, several carried mail for the State. I may be wrong, but I was sure the TU-144 shown here was being tested by American pilots earlier this century (after Concorde had ceased flying).

I can tell you from 1st hand experience about the LAST clip of the Tanker Refueling because I was Air Force Aircrew and participated in many such mid-refueling. ALL AIRCREWS...I repeat...ALL AIRCREWS...train for EMERGENCY BREAK AWAY PROCEDURES !! That is what you saw in that clip. If for ANY reason ANY Crew member involved in the OP finds / sees an EMERGENCY....they shall declare BREAK AWAY BREAK AWAY BREAK AWAY !! The Refueling Aircraft WILL do an EMERGENCY disconnect and that aircraft WILL perform an EMERGENCY ASCENT !!! The Aircraft receiving fuel WILL DECLARE...BREAK AWAY also...AND...simultaneously do an EMERGENCY DESCENT !! Only after both aircraft have pulled away and gone thru EMERGENCY CHECKLISTS and regrouped themselves to find out what the problem was and CLEARED THE PROBLEM...may they continue if they feel it is safe. Refuelings are dangerous and bumpy because of the proximity of the aircraft to each other, and for the reason ALL personnel on both aircraft MUST BE seated and buckled in !! It is quite hair raising when out of nowhere that EMERGENCY BREAK AWAY is called and the planes fly apart !!!!!!!!!!!

@donnieotto995510 жыл бұрын
it could of been from real hot pressure that was building up in the tire and then friction built up from stoping or electrical failures with in the landing gears
@craig855s10 жыл бұрын
It's the heat, the gas inside the tyres is at a very high pressure when cold, gas expands when hot (even nitrogen which is what aircraft tyres are filled with) and at those kind of tempuratures the pressure becomes too much so the pressure explodes out. Braking from beyond V1 with very little runway left to go creates a shit ton of heat. Also spraying water on them does not help the matter
@liesdamnlies337210 жыл бұрын
craig855s I know that dry chemical is the recommended extinguishing agent for aircraft tires and wheel assemblies, but you wouldn't happen to know *why* that is, would you? My guess would be that the extreme heat creates a pile of steam, which would be ineffective at depriving the fire of oxygen, on top of the problems involved if there is an unobserved fuel leak somewhere. But that's just me guessing. >.< (Not to mention there's a lot of potential to just make the whole situation way worse if you need to evacuate the plane while still attacking the fire.)

***** The Material burning is cooled with a chemical kind of like if you have a grease fire, you don't want to use water because the oxygen will make it burn more
@liesdamnlies337210 жыл бұрын
way2sh0rt07grad I'm very aware of how CAFS works, thanks. ;) My question was more if there were other concerns than just the water being turned into steam too fast to smother the fire, as well as just pushing around burning fuel, or if there were some other potential reactions with aircraft components that I wasn't aware of. Water is extremely stable though. Does a fire from aircraft fuel really have enough energy to cause the bonds in H2O to break and form 2H2 and O2 as a result? Or are we talking about a more direct process where the oxygen gets used by some other material like the

This person who made the commentary for this video clearly does not have any clue what is going on in nearly any of them. By the way, that was an Airbus in the crosswind, not a 737, and that BAC 146 isn't even worth 15,000,000 British pounds. There is no "right of way" at an airport, only what ground/ATC tells you to do. The A340 was most likely an RTO, just because the First officer calls out V1 does not mean they are going to take off, he is simply calling out a speed. 'Sigh' chain link fence kissers... SMH

And people mock me for being affraid of flying....
@Tracomaster8 жыл бұрын
+biskitz86913 And they are right. Civil aviation has got to be the most safe way to travel. Statistically speaking, the most dangerous part of a flight, is the commute to the airport. You're watching a compilation of some mishaps (some due to pilot error, others because of weather) yet more often than not, the pilot brings these events to a good end. There are sketchy airlines however (asian ones are the ones I trust least). Then still, it is safe as fuck. Remember there are THOUSANDS of planes departing every day all around the world carrying millions of passengers and they all go well with verrrrrry few exceptions. It's just that "200 people die in plane crash" makes a better headline than "another car accident like yesterday"
@biskitz869138 жыл бұрын
Tracomaster Yes I am constantly told this by everyone lol but I tell them statistics never tell a whole story. The statistics you refer to are done by crashes compared to journeys, so its more likely a car will crash on a journey than a plane. The ones I have in mind are surviour to crash ratio based. I have been in 2 car crashes as a passenger and an incident as a driver where I had to swerve off the road to avoid the car in front (that was on an A road too!), I sustained no injuries in any of the incidents. So, while I am fully aware that I am more likely to crash in a car, I fear crahing in a plane much more. You see? Its perspective I guess

Tracomaster I have flown quite a few times, more often when I was a teenager to be honest, didn't mind it so much then, quite enjoyed it actually. I try to avoid it but still choke at the price of train tickets. I live in Edinburgh and have family in London so flying is usually cheaper and a lot quicker. I just man up lol it only takes an hour. I fly because I know you are right, it is as safe as transport comes. But my god it just doesn't feel right to be 24,000 (or more) feet up. Don't tell me you enjoy it? haha these people are sadomasochists ;)

First of all here's my disclaimer... I am NOT any kind of expert. I've flown about 20 hours with instructor and 4 hours solo (it was also about 20 years ago!) when I did a flying scholarship with the RAF. But it really irritated me seeing the comments from the poster of this video. I can't imagine he is a pilot, probably a plane spotter. Apart from getting the terminology wrong in places, it seems to me that he has no concept of how difficult it can be when landing into a crosswind. You can be the best pilot in the world, but if you are landing and a crosswind gusts at just the wrong moment, there is nothing you can do. That's why the very final part of the landing requires instinct and experience to predict what might happen. But even the pros get it wrong. Similarly, in the last clip, if the pilot is flying into a gusting 50 knot nosewind, if that gust dies at the last second, the aeroplane will drop like a stone. Nothing you can do, that's why the aircraft are designed to "bounce"!

If the pilot in the A-320 didn't get a raise after that heroic save, there is absolutely no justice, equality, or fairness in the airline industry.

@miyu40439 жыл бұрын
Stewi1014 It was mainly a technical problem. After the airplane touched the ground at 12:52 the board computer switched into "ground mode", which automatially restricted the pilot's control over the ailerons. Without that, the airplane woudn't have swirled off to the left and it would have been a save landing. This wasn't mentioned in the pilot's manual, so the pilots had no idea that this would happen. Also the pilot's manual wasn't clear about the maximum crosswinds for landings. According to Airbus it is 38 knots (70 km/h / 44 mph), the crosswinds on that day were 47 knots (90 km/h /54 mph). Airbus updated the pilot's manual after this incident.

What the fuck is a 'Near Miss!?' Shouldn't it be a near HIT! Nearly missing is a hit isn't it. The plane nearly hit but luckily it missed.
@OriginalThisAndThat11 жыл бұрын
Comparing to that standup comedian, didnt sound funny as it was, but near miss means almost hit.
@BollocksUtwat11 жыл бұрын
I believe the logic is that it nearly hit, but it missed instead. So a near miss. The miss was very near. For all we know it was some language developed by an airline PR department after a near hit incident and they used positive language to try and create a different spin.

@leeveraction FYI Helicopters in most Airports are required to use Taxi ways just like airplanes unless given clearance to take right away from their position. Usually they taxi to the runway and take off much like an airplane in terms of flying down the runway and then ascending. They are also used in returning to parking area. They use the runway to land in essence then taxi to their pad or parking area. From the video the bell looks to be returning from the runway. the reason they use the runway to and from most of the time is if they have mechanical failure or have to ditch a take off or preform and emergency landing, i.e auto rotation. They are away from people and other aircraft. There could have been a miscommunication as to why that incident happened. You are assuming the fault and or blame should be on the helicopter where it could have easily been that pilots fault in the airplane.
