I’ll always know Galactica as Air, the ride’s original name when it opened in 2002. I remember it well as a young kid on family days out, I remember particularly it was sponsored by Cadbury chocolate and their Dream white chocolate bars. The flying coaster design was chosen to mimic the feeling of flying like a bird. It was rebranded to Galactica in 2016 themed around flying through the cosmos, and each seat was given a VR headset to optionally wear when you rode it. It received a lot of guest complaints though, probably motion sickness, and it was removed in 2019.
@deanos1025 ай бұрын

Overall, this vlog has made me appreciate this park even more. Seeing all of your reactions for the first time, especially on Nemesis Sub Terra, was great. This is my home park, and since I live about an hour away, I’ve visited it many times over the years. Your critiques of the park are 100% valid. The food here is terrible, especially after they brought in Aramark-a company that serves food in prisons-last year to handle the catering. Ride availability has been worse this season than any other for some reason. The overall look of the park is gradually improving under the new management, who are slowly bringing it back to the standards it had before the Smiler crash in 2015. Despite these issues, this park is still incredible, and I loved seeing your first-time reactions to all the rides I grew up with. :))

Whilst it’s pretty well known that Alton Towers can’t build above tree height, a less familiar fact is that much of the land around Alton Towers is protected heritage site and cannot be built upon, so it’s not that they are only restricted in height, they also have to squeeze rides into extremely small footprints. In spite of this they have commanded the interest of the world for decades. What Alton Towers dreams today, the whole world does tomorrow, it really is a magical place.

My best tip with smiler is that if you don’t like to get rattled about try and sit in the middle of the row over the edges, definitely the seats on the edge of the train are roughest than the inside seats. Thirteen is almost a different ride in the dark during October and November as the track isn’t lit so you literally cannot see it in the darkness. When you are used to big US resorts that have direct roads straight off the highway leading to the parking and the front gates I can understand that Alton does feel like it’s literally in the middle of nowhere and there is even narrower windier roads you can take to get to it but that’s literally because it was an old hunting estate from hundreds of years ago

I don't know why so many enthusiasts have been hating on the UK parks in recent years, on social media anyways. I haven't been personally but all the UK parks have been on my bucket list since I was a kid. They don't have the height of US parks, but the theming and ride selection seem pretty sick at the major parks. Maybe they aren't being ran the best at the moment, but the US theme park industry has had plenty of awesome parks that were ran like crap. Hopefully by the time I can visit they solve whatever management issues they are facing.

As a kid in the 1980s there used to be TV commercials for Alton Towers which advertised it as being “midway between Leek and Uttoxeter”. Neither of these are well-known places, even if you live in the UK. It really is in the middle of nowhere - but - it is midway between the M1 and the M6, the only two north-south motorways (freeways) in England, so there is some method in the madness. Alton Towers is objectively better now than it was when I was a kid, but I miss the two Schwarzkopfs: The Beast and Thunder Looper.

I’m so glad you made it here! Between this and BPB they are my home parks and it’s so nice to see you having a good time there! ❤

I remember when I did oblivion years ago they would change how long it held you over the drop. Dunno if they still do that. I haven't been since Galactica was Air. Most relaxing coaster ever.

So glad that you enjoyed Towers our home park, you’ll have to come back for big bob and the wickerman credit 😊 I think us locals take for granted what we have on our doorstep, thank you for making it shine 🎢✨

I hope you spotted the glass floor in the smilers shop that allows you to see the first inversion in the tunnel.

Alton Towers opened a lot earlier than 1980. I'm 60 years of age and I remember going there in the 70's, admittedly it wasn't a full blown amusment park like now, but it did have a selection of rides.

The Park I have visited the most I love Alton Towers through and through I go frequently and enjoy every visit shame about Wickerman but gives you a reason to go back, can't wait to see how it will be in a few years time if all the theming in Gloomy Wood and Forbidden Valley is replicated around the rest of the resort. By the way those thin roads around the outside of the park they are actually 60mph (96Kph) so you can go ridiculously fast round those roads especially with some hairpin turns. Be sure to revisit some day for Hex, Skyride, Wickerman, and maybe some new stuff on the Horizon and across the Ocean

Knowing the lay out of the park, you must of done a lot of walking as you jump around the different areas like mad. Glad you enjoyed our number 1 UK park.

Great vlog! Excited for more to come. As someone with high anxiety, I would absolutely hate the Nemesis one that shoots you with water and drops. But the smile one looks awesome

Honestly nemesis wasn't that intense for me (I also have anxiety myself) I went a few days ago when my family 1st got merlin annual passes and my mom told me to 'just go on jt, the queue is tiny', and for me who was petrified of coasters at thr start of the day,I closed my eyes and it was actually kind of relaxing as my 3rd coaster of the day!

@@pokehorselover that's understandable. I'm just not the type of person who likes unexpected things happening without me knowing. I'm also not a spooky person so if I rode the one indoor horror ride, I think I would pass out lol

Nemesis has never shot water at riders. There used to be a waterfall but that's it.

This was an awesome vlog. Double excited for Pleasure Beach now. I love the multiple perspectives and also the honesty. The shame is that Alton Towers always had a reputation for ridiculous lines. I remember friends driving 4 hours, waiting 4 hours in line for nemesis and oblivion and driving back... hating their lives. The friend who takes medication to be able to ride stuff... that's just wild! Haha. Love the dedication.
