They started as 6 members in 2012 but 3 members left soon after, so they asked their vocal coach and a trainee that was originally rejected to join them, which made them a 5 member group. Then they were almost completely unknown until the end of 2014, they were almost on the verge of disbanding because it was tough financially, their manager wasn't even getting paid at one point. Then a fancam of Hani performing "Up and down" went viral, it has more than 30 millions views, which is the most of any female kpop artist, and only one or two bts fancams have more views, and not by much, which is crazy because they were completely unknown at the time. This fancam saved their career, "Up and down", which had been released a few months before and hadn't been successul made a complete comeback on the charts, it was so crazy that music shows even invited EXID to come promote the song even though the promotion period had already ended (which I think is the first time it happened in kpop history). After that they came out with great songs again and again. But their trouble is not over, when they finally were successful, Solji (the former vocal coach), who is the leader and main vocal got sick and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and had to take a break for almost 2 years, from the end of 2016 to their full group comeback in November 2018. But once again EXID beat the odds by coming out with great songs with only 4 members in the meantime. :)

The person who sang the 2nd half of the chorus (3:26 on) was Solji, their main vocalist. She didn't appear in the MV because this was during a period of time where she was still on hiatus for hyperthyroidism. She was well enough to record for this particular album be didn't participate in the promotions. Solji is easily one of the best girl group main vocalists in Kpop in my opinion. She actually was the group's vocal coach before being added to the group. EXID as a group had a pretty rough start. They debuted with 6 members, not long after, 3 of them left the group. As a result Solji and Hyerin (the 2 voices in the chorus of the song) were added to the group. They didn't see much success until "Up & Down" when a fancam of Hani (the one with purple hair in this MV) went crazy viral, it was the most viewed Kpop fancam at one point. That help put the group on the map and they came back with strong comeback of "Ah Yeah" and have been a top girl group since. At the moment the group is kind of in a wierd limbo of they didn't disband but aren't active. All members left the company and the company itself seems to have closed its doors, but the members have said they didn't disband so their future is kind of in question. But anyways, please check more of them out if you want to hear some amazing raps and crazy vocals. I'd recommend " Up&Down", "Ah Yeah", "Lady", "I Love You"

The happiness I’m feeling seeing you guys reacting to EXID they’re one of the most iconic girl groups in Kpop queens of endless bops. Their main vocalist and leader Solji is the one who sang the 2nd chorus but she was absent from the mv & promos at the time. This group also has one of the best girl group rappers (my personal fav) LE she’s so incredible and they always manage to weave her raps throughout their songs which makes it sound so incredible. She’s also a great song writer and producer too. All of them are so incredibly talented and managed to shine a lot in their eras so please listen to more of their music even if it’s in your own time! LE is super talented, one of the best female rappers in kpop (and hiphop?). Think Gi-dle's Soyeon but from 3rd gen, or female version of G-Dragon (in the sense that she wrote songs for her group and other artists). LE wrote and produced most, if not all, of EXID's songs. Her flow is crazy good, and she is one of the few female rappers that I respect and actually enjoy listening to.

Your bias singer is Hyelin, who has an absolute amazing pop vocal timbre and great voice! They are the first girl group to have all 5 singers compete on "King of Masked Singer", and the lead singer Solji is the only singer to have won twice. Since you like songs where the rap is blended into the song, be sure to react to EXID's "Up & Down" and "Ah Yeah" videos, as the rapper LE does the best transition from rap to chorus I've ever heard. She is seamless and weaves her rap verses perfectly with the sung verses.

I love EXID, it was my first utt group. And LE (the rapper) is my bias, she is third most successful female Korean songrwriter in kpop and a BEAST when it comes to rap. She produces and writes for EXID as well. But you should check a mv when the group is all together, because Solji is not in this one - though her vocals are and they are mindblowing. She used to be the vocal coach for the group before she join them.

yeah the main Vocalist was out for a year but they went on anyway and made some fantastic videos. Always, ( ALWAYS ) use subtitles with this group because the song and video almost always carry different messages. also please note that they kill a lot of people in their videos. Don't mind that. It's just them. If you go back to the beginning there was a pre-debut called I Feel Good, and there were line up changes in the first three videos before they settles on the five. Don't miss Lady. (no one dies) and there is a collab between Hani, Solar of MAMAMOO and Luna of F(x), called HONEYBEE that you would like.

exid started off as 6 people, but some members left and then they had 5 members(they added i think 2 members?) the reason why you only see 4 members here is because the main vocalist and leader solji was recovering from a serious illness call hyperthyroidism. she missed out on many comebacks but when she came back she was much better and ready to perform again!
