Hi! I am currently working as L3 production support (for Abinitio), could you please guide on how to prepare for Ab initio developer profile ?
@ETLSQL2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kamalika, I will give you only one tip - go and talk to your development team. I will share my personal example. When I joined a new team I was part of the development team using Teradata and informatica. There were a few people from the QA team who used to test my code. A few of them asked me to help them switch to dev team. They used to come and sit at my desk and see my work. Slowly shadowing me and 5-6 months later they joined my dev team from the QA team within the same project. So don't get overwhelmed by a lot of information available in the market. I don't think you to buy any course. You are in a good position. You have the project , you have the tools. Just share your aspiration with your manager and start shadowing development team. In 6 months you will transition to dev. Good luck.

Informatica ETL TOOL VS Talend Etl tool wich one is the best tool sir
@ETLSQL2 жыл бұрын
Dear I will not recommend comparing the tools to find which is the best. Generally I don't answer it. I can only recommend that you learn what is used in your project. Both are very popular. Understand the basic concepts behind the UI and not just limit knowledge to drag and drop stages. This way you can easily switch between tools if required. Also say if a company has purchased an informatica license then they will use informatica. If you are a developer in that project then you will work on informatica only. If you know the ETL concepts then tomorrow if the company switches to Talend you can easily apply your knowledge in the new environment. This is from my personal experience when I switched from informatica to datastage for a new project. So learn the tool which is used in the project. Understand the core and basic concepts. Apply that knowledge across different tools and platforms to widen your skills. Hope this helps. Best, Nitin

Hi I'm interested in ETL developer can you please tell me what are the skills required for ETL developer
@ETLSQL2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nadeem I will say start with Data warehouse concepts , ETL concepts and relate it with the SQL queries. This requires you to convert Concepts into actual SQLs to implement it. Few Examples: You read about Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD) - now write SQL queries to implement SCD-1,2,3. You read about Staging area now create data load scripts into staging tables. Decide if it will be Truncate/Load or Incremental load. Create Dimension tables and after that create fact table. Write SQL query to join DIM tables and use group by to calculate some measures in FACT table. Once you have theoretical knowledge , go ahead with creating ETL pipelines using your preferred ETL tools. You may use only SQL with shell scripting or python to achieve same as well. Hope this helps to start with. Best, Nitin

What's the difference between ETL tester and ETL developer?
@ETLSQL2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dushyant In typical data warehouse team, ETL developers create pipelines to move and transform data from Source to Staging to EDW layer. Developers refer to Source-Target mapping document to write SQL code to implement business requirements. ETL tester on the other side create test cases - both technical and functional. Once the code is deployed in QA environment, testers run the code on sample data to validate if all technical & functional requirements are met by the code or not.

Hi Shoaib I may suggest that first you fix your 6-12 months goal. Then identify someone on linkedin who has done exactly what you want to achieve. Then reach out to them for mentorship. Few of them may be willing to assist you.
