@Orvillehuit33 I agree. He gives as good has he gets. We have great times, and I don’t take the time we get to spend for granted. At least I try not to.

Hey Ben I loved the new video I enjoy watching you and your dad fly and am jealous of that beautiful new prop. Years and years down the road from now these memories will be beyond priceless. Looking forward to your next video keep them coming and I liked the comments and the music in the video. Your dads bandaid is a personal favorite of mine, duct tape is the best. Thanks John N555R

John Smathers glad you enjoyed the video! I agree that these will be my fondest memories many years down the road. I’m so fortunate to have the opportunity to fly with my dad. I don’t take it for granted. I’ll try my best to keep the videos coming.

The sunset over the house at the beginning of the video was beautiful. Loved seeing the old bonanza in the air again! Thanks for the video

I like your Dad's band-aid and use of the hand mic. Old school! Fun video! Great to see y'all back in the air. Here's a pro tip (though I'm by no means a pro): buy yourself an ND8 filter for the camera that you shoot through the prop with. That usually gets rid of funky multiple bending propeller blade effect.
@BenWeeksBonanzaPilot5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip Brian! I’ll look into the filter so the front footage looks better. Also want to get outside cameras working without the batteries dying in two seconds. I’m making improvements little by little. The plane is flying beautifully though.

Thank you for your content! It’s just a snapshot of life owning a few old airplanes. I sold my G35 last year and regret it every day! There’s nothing like some quality time with loved ones going out for a flight. Cheers!

I really appreciate the support! I’m sorry you sold your plane. I understand that it’s not always a practical commodity. Shoot, we don’t even use ours for travel most of the time, just pleasure flights. They just sit in the hangar eating money most of the time. 😂
@gojiraisgod4 жыл бұрын
@@BenWeeksBonanzaPilot they definitely know how to eat up money! Good luck on your PPL by the way. That’s a heck of an airplane to train in, more power to you. Safe flying!

I watched your “new prop”video, again. You guys are a hoot! Your comments to your dad are funny! They don’t faze him😊. Wondering, Do you guys roll your grass runway? I’d use 1/3 flaps, go full power-holding the brakes, then let her rip! What’s your latest adventures? Dave, with 1947 straight 35, with E-225-8 engine.
@BenWeeksBonanzaPilot2 жыл бұрын
All kinds of adventures, and I haven’t hace had a chance to document them sadly. We recently got bonanza number 4 added to the fleet (a friends plane not mine). 1947 D-616. We haven’t rolled the smaller strip since it was graded some 30’years ago. The longer flat runway at the ranch gets rolled once a year or so. It’s very smooth and sheds water quite well.

Can you tell any difference in the 88 inch prop and the 84 ?
@BenWeeksBonanzaPilot3 жыл бұрын
We actually noticed an increase in performance after switching to the 84”, but that’s because we advanced the high rpm stop to make recommended power for takeoff (2600 rpm) when we switched props. The old 88” was set to where it only made about 2150 rpm on takeoff. Sadly because of that, I don’t really know what the performance comparison would have been like if they both were set to the same rpm. It did seem to spin up just a little bit faster when first giving her juice I suppose because of the smaller prop. I like the extra two inches of ground clearance, but I miss the old 88” because of the beauty (better proportions imho). I’d say actual performance differences between the two are almost negligible.

Seriously looking at a V tail of my own. I'd be curious to hear how yours has held up over the years. My instructor has owned an operated his since '81 when she rolled out of the factory. I'm assuming yours has a 225? Wouldn't be my first aircraft but would be my first beech.

Mike Waterfield E-185-11 205hp. It’s solid as a rock but you have to just expect the belly to be oily. Unless you own one of the magic E engines that don’t leak any oil. Lots of maintenance to keep her in flying shape but she flys like a dream with the proper care. My dad has owned this one since the 80’s and she has been a wonderful plane. Be careful if you get one though. You’ll fall in love with her so much you’ll have to name her.

Been there already, currently in a co-op of a rangemaster. When I get my hands on one I plan on keeping her long term.
@BenWeeksBonanzaPilot4 жыл бұрын
Mike Waterfield in that case I would strongly encourage you to find yourself an old bonanza and show her the love and care that she deserves. Visit BeechTalk.com and go wild. Lots of knowledge and resources there. You have to get to know people in order to find parts for 70 year old planes but they’re out there. It’s an excellent community.

Cliff Wiggins Marvin over at M and M propeller in Oklahoma. He did phenomenal work.

@@BenWeeksBonanzaPilot if you dnt mind me asking what all did they do to your prop and what was the cost? I'm working on a 1947 vtail.
@BenWeeksBonanzaPilot4 жыл бұрын
Cliff Wiggins complete overhaul. We supplied serviceable blades hub and pitch change bearing and Marvin built us a 0 time prop. The cost was 2600 dollars. A VERY reasonable price. Sadly the word on the street is that he’s retiring and isn’t taking any more prop work. If you visit Beechtalk.com you will find people who can point you in the direction of another reputable shop for the 215 prop. Not sure what price you’ll be looking at.
