First flights in Bobrowniki

Training flights at the Bobrowniki airfield, near Nieborów. Traffic patterns, landings, stalls, training in engine failure. Palace in Nieborów. Finally, the Hercules parade and 3xCASA PAF. Beautiful weather, great airfield, nice people.

The answer will not be clear. I still own a Minifox, but I haven't flown this year. Why? I am a pilot and instructor in an airline, we have a lot of work lately. I don't have time for private flying... But I hope that will change soon. If you have questions about Minifox, ask. I will try to answer.

@@WieslawJedynakCptWuJot Thankyou! I know you're a busy man so I appreciate your time. I'm a newly qualified pilot and the Minifox looks like the perfect aircraft for me. The one thing that worries me is that I'm used to flaring when landing and I'm scared that I'd accidentally strike the tail as there doesn't seem to be much clearance. Is this something you've experienced? Also are you tempted to get the EVO Speed cockpit? Many Thanks!

The landing technique on the Minifox is no different from other aircraft. Off course is a matter of Training and experience. If you try and really want to, you can hit the ground with your tail while flying the C152 :) The fuselage is protected by a wheel at the end of the tube. You have nothing to worry about. Just maintain the proper airspeed during approach and not prolong the flare fase. As for the EVO Speed cockpit, for me it has three main disadvantages: 1. Flying in an open cockpit is very pleasant and at Minifox flight speeds it does not bother you. Believe me. The feeling of ram air is very similar to riding scooter. 2. The purchase cost is not small. 3. The weight of the cabin takes away the payload of the aircraft. I prefer a bigger fuel tank.

Hi Wieslaw - I am enjoying your videos. As of a year ago I also acquired a Minifox (in the UK) and its been a great flying experience (A couple of my early videos are on YT). One question I have for you as you seem to fly quite a lot - what are your EGT and CHT levels at climb out ? For EGT I am seeing quite high values like 750C. CHT is around 140-150C which seems ok. Wanted to check if your numbers were similar. Also what speed and RPM do you normally cruise at? Would be good to compare notes...

The first important question is: what engine is your plane equipped with? I am flying the Polini THOR 250 DS engine. The EGT temperature limits are 650 degrees Celsius (operating 500-620), CHT 90 degrees Celsius (operational (54-85). During take-off, the EGT temperature reaches about 600-615 degrees, depending on the outside temperature. During cruising flight EGT it's about 530-550 degrees. CHT temperature reaches values depending on whether the thermostat is working or not. On cold days, the temperature reaches max. 85 degrees. On warm days, when the radiator is fully operational, the maximum temperature is 78-80 degrees. I use a 2-blade Helix propeller, 150cm diameter, 7 degree pitch. The engine RPM during take-off is 7000-7100 RPM, while flying at the maximum speed it is 7500 RPM. In cruising speed flight, the engine RPM depends on the take-off weight. I have a 35 liter fuel tank. When I fly at full weight, I reach 80-85 km / h at 6400 RPM. When I have half the fuel, I reach 80-85 km / h at 6100-6200 RPM. @@WieslawJedynakCptWuJot Thanks very much for your very helpful reply. My engine is a Cisco Bull Max 33 hp 230 my prop is the same as yours - I cruise at 80-85kph at 6400 rpm with max climb out revs at 7800 rpm. I will be sure to check out your website!

@flexfiend I've been flying for forty years. Professionally for thirty-five ... I really like and appreciate my work, but recently we fly very rarely. You know why. I've always spent a lot of time at the airfield flying light airplanes after my work. I also fly on balloons, a month ago I flew a small Polish gyroplane. I appreciate this diversity. And tomorrow I'm flying the B787 Dreamliner to Tokyo for the first time in a month, I'm coming back on Wednesday and I'm glad to be able to fly the Minifox again. I will be on vacation until the end of August so I think there will be a few videos on You Tube! See you soon

Jaka jest charakterystyka przeciągnięcia? Czy mógłby Pan pokazać jak wygląda mechanizm zabezpieczający zastrzał i skrzydło?

Przeciągnięcie jest bardzo prawidłowe, samolot nie ostrzega co prawda drganiami na sterze wysokości, tak jak to zdarza się w innych konstrukcjach, ale łagodnie opuszcza nos i stara się rozpędzić. Nie ma tendencji zwalania się na skrzydło. Wszystko bardzo liniowo i spokojnie. Wystarczy oddać drążek do neutrum i samolot sam się rozpędza. Prędkość? Ok 40-45 km/h. Co do "mechanizmu" to standardowo skrzydło mocowane jest do belki nośnej czterema śrubami z nakrętkami. To samo dotyczy zastrzałów. Ja mam wersję ze składanymi skrzydłami, w miejsce śrub zastosowane są sworznie z zamkiem kulowym (Ball-lock pins). Jak się rozpogodzi zrobię film ze szczegółami składania skrzydeł i zapinania zastrzałów.

No cóż, rozumiem doskonale. Sam przeszedłem te drogę od pokusy do realizacji. Jest to samolot dla pilotów, którzy zdaja sobie sprawę z ograniczeń tego typu sprzętu, ale jednocześnie doceniają potencjał w zestawieniu z racjonalnymi kosztami tej całej zabawy. Każdy, nawet najprostszy dwumiejscowy samolot w zakupie to koszty razy 2, koszty eksploatacji razy 3, co najmniej. Nie mówię tu o "okazjach" za 50 tysięcy, z nieznaną historią i dwudziestoma latami na karku...Mowa o nowych samolotach. Pozdrawiam i zapraszam do Bobrownik!

Wieslaw Jedynak Gdzieś w PL lata takie cudo jak „Quicksilver”, jest to także prosty samolocik, ale dwuosobowy i o dużych możliwościach przystosowania do trudnego terenu i szybkiej konwersji na wodnosamolot. Jest to oczywiście inna liga cenowa, ale otwarta kabina i dwa miejsca obok siebie to magia! Niestety, sytuacja z producentem nie jest do konca jasna i nie ma wsparcia w Europie. Trudno znaleźc cokolwiek w podobym klimacie. Minifox wydaje się być jakimś wyjściem. Pozostaje spróbować skontaktować się z dystrubutorem w PL i spróbować umówić na próbny lot...

Możliwości jest wiele. Eurofly ma też w ofercie Firefox, który miał wersję z miejscami obok siebie. A kontakt z dystrybutorem to dobry pomysł. Maurycy ma samolot gotowy do latania. Powodzenia!
