The moment I make that goal I'm going to the little airport 30 mins away that has a PPL program and going to get it. Thank you truly for the inspiration!!

Glen - Instead of the right-seater wearing the Bose headset uncomfortably backwards (earcups angled the wrong way), there's a screw under where the mic attaches so you can swap the entire mic/cable assembly to the right earcup. Then you'd have dedicated right- and left-seat configured A20s. That's how it's designed. In the jet since we swap seats every day and use our own headsets, we just always wear it with the mic on the left regardless of which seat we're in.
@GlensHangar2 жыл бұрын
I wondered if anyone would notice... This was Julie's first time with the new headset; she's been using an older headset she bought 20 years ago that she had changed the mic boom over to the right ear. She got in for this trip and just didn't think to look and put them on the same as the old pair. After the flight she commented how uncomfortable they were, and that's when we saw that they had been on backwards. Oh well - it was changed right away and we've flown a few times since.

I am the AME based at South River and travel to Mattawa. Yes I am mobile. Great video. I was working at my hanger in CPE6 that day of the coffee run flights. Trying to help everyone out is fun! After hearing your concerns about radio interference in the beginning of the video I just want to pass some information along to those who read this. Clean your spark plugs as normal...but also check the internal resistance of each plug. Not many people check this. If you run spark plugs that begin with R _ _ 40E. The R is resistance. There is a resistor inside. I can be open or shorted. Both are cause to reject the plug. The OHM value should be between 500 to 5000 OHM. A shorted resistor will cause radio noise. An open resistor may/can cause weak spark. I heard in the video a bit of engine misses in the beginning. Just trying to help. My best friend flies from Oshawa Airport, Great place.
@GlensHangar2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Barry! - We nailed the 'radio interference' down to the the intercom. The radio is clean (checked that on a set of outputs that don't run to the intercom), but the intercom was picking up noise somewhere. Spent an afternoon tracking it down; turns out the PS Engineering intercom is faulty and needs to be replaced.
@barrysuomu44852 жыл бұрын
@@GlensHangar Yes...Intercoms can cause issues. The MIC jack base has to be insulated from aircraft ground and have its own ground wire. We all know that! But I have noticed you can get a double ground loop from the PHONE jack base, causing noise. I now insulate the PHONE jack and run its own ground wire back with the MIC ground. Happy Flying. Come up to South River again and meet all of us in the hangars. Great knowledge base.

Great flight, really enjoyed this video. It's to bad the exhaust outlet discolors the nice shiny outer skin all down the left side, Could the exhaust be extended just enough to dissipate it more? Or where it comes out could could you add a small mudflap so to speak right behind the tailpipe on the outer skin to deflect the bulk of it down and around. ( Not ideal I guess because then you would have a drag penalty ) Just thoughts, the plane looks great either way . i live in CYYB hope to see ya fly over one day :)

Hey Glen, when departing out of Oshawa, while still south of Lake Simcoe, shouldn't you have been on the CFA 122.9 instead of en route 126.7? There are a ton of training flights that would be your most likely source of conflict in that area and they all talk on 122.9. The CFA information is kind of hidden, there is no indication it even exists on the VNC or (front of) the VTA. You have to look at the back of the Toronto VTA to see the areas and frequencies pilots are "encouraged" to use. I'm enjoying watching this project of yours, and this new adventures phase is even more interesting than the rebuild. Happy flying!
@GlensHangar2 жыл бұрын
I listen on both - but you're right that the frequency info can be hard to find for that area. When I fly into Edenvale, the local flight schools all have a frequency that they've setup on their own - which does nobody flying into the area any good.
@jello6572 жыл бұрын
@@GlensHangar Ha, "both" is the answer of a person not stuck renting birds that rarely have more than one functional radio. :) Aviation sometimes makes it harder than necessary to find safety critical information, so maybe those flight schools are trying to introduce the concept early. Thanks for the tip about Edenvale.

With the tech in the Dynon panel / engine sensors I can dial it in to 'On Peak', but I run it just on the rich side of peak right now as we go through the first half dozen oil changes / oil analysis trying to build a picture of what's happening in the engine. It only has 250 hours on the engine since rebuild, but that was done in the late 1980s.

The area around CYOO people are usually on the CFA frequency 122.9. Did you only monitor 126.7? Some mornings there are a lot of people in that training area doing any number of things and usually they are just on 122.9 announcing their intention.

Great video Glenn, thanks for the tip on the bikes. What adsb unit do you have installed? Does it have diversity?
@GlensHangar2 жыл бұрын
The Dynon ADS-B currently doesn't have diversity, they are working on a drop in replacement for the unit I have installed. But it was a situation of what works right now, and with the GA requirement at least 4 years away I figured that single frequency now that integrates with the entire system was better than waiting. They assure me that the drop in will only require adding a second antenna, and a low cost box behind the panel. Right now it give in air traffic of all ADS-B out equipped aircraft, and within range of US towers (Upstate NY, and Michigan bleed over to Southern Ontario) I get weather info. I also get weather info from the privately installed cifib.ca towers at CYOO and CNK4 - hopefully more of those to come.

Try removing the batteries. I use GoPros to tape parades or while driving. I use them with external power. Even when hooked to External power the batteries will heat up, overheat the camera and shut off the camera. By removing the battery you eliminate the heat source.

If you are recording with the gopro using external power, you should remove the batteries (if you aren't already). Battery is the biggest source of heat and they get hotter when being charged.
