Your tomatoes are looking great. The weather seems to be cooperating better now after that last cold spell. I know my garden is finally taking off. I noticed the channel is gaining more subs. Hopefully that continues. Keep up the good work.

I have two questions. 1. Have you ever been stung by a bee? 2. Do you use fertilizer and if you do what type?
@wishwellfarms Жыл бұрын
I think I’ve only been stung once in 20 years. Yes it takes a lot of fertilizer to grow greenhouse tomatoes. I have a specific video about that, too much to list out. I will attach it in the next comment

What’s the profit margin? How does that compare to the same amount of tomatoes grown in a field? Just curious bc you have added costs with a hydroponic system, but I would assume you get a higher yield.

There certainly is far more expenses growing in greenhouses. Not to mention how labor-intensive it is And the start up cost. The main reason we do it is because we are the only ones at all of our farmers market selling tomatoes for nearly 3 months while waiting on field tomatoes. Once we get to August, you can find Tomatoes everywhere and they’re sold for much much less because there’s far more supply than demand. yes, we get much more yield per plant out of the greenhouse but in the end the profit margin it’s not any better than feeling Tomatoes I’m guessing, it’s been years since I’ve crunched the numbers, I just know it works for us because they are in such high demand from May through July.

If you leave the tomato on to vine to long we’ll it get mealy inside?
@wishwellfarms Жыл бұрын
not in my experience...that would be caused from some other issue going on with the plant.

0:47 Hi mister! what kind is it?
@wishwellfarms3 ай бұрын
Last year we grew Big Dena, Geronimo, Foronti and Terero. This year we are trying Ondero instead of Foronti.

What verity of tomato do you grow?
@wishwellfarms Жыл бұрын
Geronimo was my all-time favorite greenhouse variety, but they discontinued it. Now we grow Big Dena, Terero, and Foronti. These are all indeterminants for Greenhouses. Out in the field we grow five or six different types of determinants.
