I fought in this war as iraqi soldier and being in asiege for many days before this ends and our unit regress back to near basrah city where we bombared by Tornados fighters ,hundreds died and I could escaped it ,after that I heard that the air fighter was shot down and the pilot was killed while he was parachuating ,he was canadian as I heard. After that our unit was in a mess and I took the high way leadind to Basarah unfortunately being captured by the rebells backed by iranian intelligence where they hold me in a small village till I could escaped again after intense fire clashes on their digs where they were hide. It was terrible experience in my life that really reshaped me for the next coming years.

From iraq the real reason was actually a complete exhausting from the iran iraq battle Plus the army suddenly raised from 280k to 1.4m which caused a deadly mistake in saddam regime first 280 asked for modern technology and weapons and all military generals and leaders agreed to this except for the one who has the authority to say yes or no instead of saying yes he said no Plus saddam thought and put high thoughts that the battle will be ground battle and not much air battle He then thought that the best solution would be increase man power Which was again deadly choice First instead of making things looks easier for the coalition forces He made them things that things are hellish in iraq and they're not only fighting the once called 4th strongest military and middleeast strongest So they brought their best RAF And the best equipment all iraq neighbours thought with such military they will saddam victims And the media made him look like hitler or the devil child But when they entered they only found a bunch of noobs whom were trained 30 days Maximus And the experience warriors were only serving to protect Baghdad and saddam All because he thought big numbers + reputation + oil = no one try to invade you

Iraq is a pretty badass country, 4th largest military, 4th largest air force at their peak with just 40 million population and was the cause of the biggest coalition being built since WW2. If they allied with America and got American training and equipment, they'd be unstoppable. Some strongman just needs to get that country back together and unify all the ethnic groups.

What's so wrong with that? Kuwait & it's people have become filthy rich by selling oil to Americans & other, they're happy with American protection. Americans are happy with getting easy access to oil. Win win win for everybody. Same can be said for the Saudis, Qataris, Emiratis. They all accepted American protection, accepted free market capitalism, they & their citizens have become filthy rich. While Venezuela with highest oil reserve in the world is poor asf. It's not just about having natural resources, it's also about knowing how to use it.
