For tomatoes to have tons of fruits, remove all twigs from the very bottom as soon as it gets to about a feet tall or when the trunk is about the circumference of your pinky, then work upwards just before the first twig that has the flowers (which will later turn into tomatoes). Keep pruning every now and then, specially removing twigs or sprouts that you think will no longer bear flowers or fruits. Pruning concentrates the energy of the plant to bearing healthy and bountiful harvest. You can also prune at the top if you don't want the plant to keep growing taller. You'd be so surprise how much tomatoes you can harvest because you are not scared to prune! Make sure you use the leaves for compost. For healthier soil, learn the technique of composting! Prune the extra leaves from the pepper plants and use them for broth dishes. Remember pruning helps the plant to put its energy more into bearing fruits. For tomatoes, pepper, okra, eggplant, allow one or two fruits each to ripen into full maturity so you can collect their seeds for replanting later. For your greens, like bok choy, you do not have to uproot them. Keep harvesting them by using scissors, just cutting off the mature leaves that you need or cut the whole leafy parts straight horizontally, leaving the middle bud visible. It will regrow with new leaves in a couple of days. This way, you can keep harvesting from the same plant. Leave one or two healthy bok choys allowing them continue growing to maturity until they sprout yellow flowers, which will turn into pods which have the seeds inside for replanting later. Allow your pods to keep growing until they start to crack open or become brown, which means the seeds inside (which will be dark brown) are ready to be stored for the next planting season. Keep the seeds in paper containers to keep them from catching mold.
