I have a half dozen shades from Pastel Roses and I like them a lot! It’s definitely that cornstarch-y dry formula. My faves are Opal Aurora (fiery iridescent multichrome, allegedly dupe for SBSD Radar) and Falling Star, which is a silvery desaturated base with rainbow sparkles throughout - it’s a shade you look at and can’t tell what color it is because it’s so muted but also colorful ✨ a special one for sure, and very different from what I was expecting from the website swatches!

Yes I feel like a lot of the shades are different than what I thought they would be based on their site photography!

This was fun! My eyeshadow no buy doesn't open up till the end of the year, so I'm just scoping things out. 😁💜🌻

I applaud you for staying strong! Hopefully it's fun just to hear some thoughts about various indie brands!

Wow, your Love Story looks vibrant compared to mine! Maybe it's the lighting, but the peach, pink and green shifts are very soft and pastelly in my one Wild Heart and Starburst are two of my favourite TPR shadows, though I know they're duped by a lot of other brands! Wild Heart is similar to Clionadh's Blaze, which I own, just a little bit sparklier and more pink than peach, so maybe it's more a dupe of Tucana? Starburst it a green to reddish shift over a tan base, I know lots of brands have shadows like that and Starburst is the one I have 😁

I haven't tried Bernovich because it feels like everything I've seen from them looks like things I've already seen from Glamshop, I don't know if they just get their pigments from the same place, but they seem sooooo similar
@kathrynbbeauty Жыл бұрын
Hmm maybe the color switched when they changed the formula? When did you pick up your version? I also have heard that the shadows can expire much faster than other brands, do you feel like yours are still in good condition? I would agree that Bernovich and GlamShop have some similar shades and formulas!
@pilcas1 Жыл бұрын
Nothing to do with the shadows themselves but Bernovich was based in Belarus and you could no longer get them because of of sanctions. Now I see they are based in Poland. The prices are also higher than they used to be.

This is all really interesting to me. I definitely don’t want to be endorsing the authoritarianism in Belarus right now. I’m wondering if the brand is fully in Poland now and if it is related to the government issues there? It’s also really interesting to learn that they’ve raised their prices because even being what they are right now, it still feels really competitive!

I never tried Bernovich, but have a lot of Glamshop singles. A friend of mine said they have a very similar formula. Beautiful haul!! I'm trying to be careful not to spend too much lately, as I want to use more all the magnificent sparkly stuff that I have already, but singles are always tempting me 😂
@kathrynbbeauty Жыл бұрын
I would agree that they seem like very similar formulas! I honestly went too hard with my haul, but I'm tempted with the sparkles, too! :'D

Hi Kathryn, thanks for your swatches! Influencers totally help me choose shifty shades! May I ask, how are your singles now? Did they develop bad smell or mould? Are you still using them? Thanks 🙏🥰

I bought the pastel roses eyeshadow long ago (in 2021 I think) and they did start to have an oily smell after a year. I think it was an old formula and I feel a bit afraid to use them

You've been holding out on us lol. I tried Kristen Leigh a few years ago and didn't really care for the liquid formula. I had an interest in Pastel Roses and Dandy Lions.

Haha I’m sorry! Honestly I’ve been kind of overwhelmed by the amount of newness that’s entered my life this summer and in some weird way, I’m a little ashamed because I feel like I’ve been over consuming. That’s honestly part of the reason it’s taken this long to get the video up! But I hope that this was able to help you out a bit for the brands you’ve been considering buying from!
@AndreeaC. Жыл бұрын
The Pastel Roses Uk starts to smell indeed but at some point doesn't and the formula stays the same! Bernovich are a Belarusian brand 😊 and they have many shades as Glamshop !
@kathrynbbeauty Жыл бұрын
That’s good to know about Pastel Roses, I’d be bummed if I had to stop using them because they’re so pretty! And dang I checked the brand’s website and saw a Polish address, but I had no idea they were from Belarus. I know that country has been struggling with authoritarianism and I don’t want it to seem as though I’m endorsing that by buying from them!

There’s different opinions on why The Pastel Roses smell, but regardless, they press their shadow with glycerin which is super stupid because it’s a humectant, meaning your shadows are likely to go off quickly. This is why a lot of people have mold in their eyeshadows. Despite being in the UK I have no interest in purchasing from them. They have claimed the mold issue was from the fact that their old pans were rusting 💀😳 but it’s an ongoing issue so it can’t JUST be the pans, it’s the formula too
@kathrynbbeauty Жыл бұрын
I have heard that glycerin is the problem, too! I mean, if you're someone who wears the same eyeshadow regularly you could maybe use it up before it expires... but I'm definitely not that person!

All of these summer sales are definitely giving FOMO, it’s hard to step back and let them pass by sometimes!

My previous comment doesn't show. For the smell in the Pastel roses, it might just be Jojoba oil reacting to the variations in temperature which usually subsides. Hope this helps.

Ah! I got scared and threw one of mine away as the smell and look of the shadow became weird after around a year of use. I really loved the color and wear of it, but it grossed me out so much 😢
@scentalya Жыл бұрын
@@belerinah I have some shades from a year ago or so, none of them smell or look funky. I do live in a drier climate, so that might play a part. Try to store your eyeshadows in a dry place in your home.
@scentalya Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately in light of new information I no longer advise keeping those eyeshadows, let alone putting them on your eyes. Their formula contains glycerin which makes tin pans rust.

So weird a lot of the shades I already own like Skyfall and midnight rose I bought in 2021 I think and mine look totally different than yours lol, I have checked mine and they do not smell like anything

I am guessing that when they reformulated it may have impacted some of the colors!
