Thanks for the info, I appreciate the info on the low wind performance of the 945. Can you comment on it's higher wind performance, say in 20+ knots for wing foiling?

I have never had the chance to ride a Sab, but have ridden several slingshot and Doutone Foils. Which Sab foil is most similar to the Duotone Spirit Carve 700. That foil is amazing under the kite and behind the waverunner.

Hi Gunnar For my wing foiling here on the Dutch North Sea I'm currently using - Mast M82 - Front Wing W945 (light wind, small waves) and W799 (stronger wind, higher waves) - Stabilizer S483 - Fuselage F700HS With both front wings, I have noticed that when going down higher waves (higher speed) that my front foot pressure increases to such a degree that I cannot control the front wing anymore... With the provided (negative) shims of SABFoil, this effect is even increased... I would need the contrary, positive shims! For now I've added a piece of credit card between the back of the stabilizer and the fuselage, which rather improved things... I now have a more stable front foot pressure at all speeds. What's your opinion on this? Any other advice you could give me? Could you recommend another stabiliser? S399? S425? Or the new S430 or S380? Love to hear from you!

Hi Gunnar I'm Francesco from Italy...following your Wing foil challenges...you are great. I recently switched to Wing foiling (I do advanced Hydrofoil)... I'm a beginner. I weigh 85 kg, I use a 96 liter board but I will soon switch to an 85 liter one... . I have a Sabfoil kraken 93, w999 light wind, W945 moderate wind and wave, S430 stabilizer, F703k fuselage. I would like a front blade for strong winds... I don't do freestyle I like waves and freeride, but here in Italy they are medium to small. I'm torn between a W799 and a W940. Which do you recommend between the two? I think the 799 is easier...thanks again for your advice. Greetings Francesco

Hi Gunnar, I have the w1000 and regarding the safety on using this wing. I am thinking to round up slightly the tips of the wing with sandpaper and probably also round up a bit the sharp edge. Do you think it might change something to the performance of the w1000 e.g. like noise or vibrations?
@GunnarBiniasch3 жыл бұрын
It will make is a little bit slower (maybe a knot or 2) and it can result is some vibration and noise.

Hi Gunnar, so if I have the W1100, a very nice wing for low to mid winds and small wave winging. I have been looking for a second wing in my quiver (to replace also W790) to ride in medium to higher winds and medium waves, would the W945 be a good choice? I guess the W940 would be a better choice in medium to high winds and bigger and faster waves.
@GunnarBiniasch3 жыл бұрын
Hi Christian. Yes the 945 seems to fit nicely between the 1100 and the 940. I think the 945 will suit you quite well in medium wind and wave conditions and maybe even in lighter winds with a bigger wing.

Hi Denis, I can confirm the W799 makes a brilliant freestyle/free ride alternate to the W633 for Kiting. I’ve not used it winging yet but for Kiting it’s amazing fun. If using F700HS fuse S425 without shim works in about same position you use a 633/483 and with S400 use -1 degree shim and 2-3 cm further forward. These settings will get you in the ball park. Regards.

Hi Gunnar, I'm riding the 1100 right now for winging and am looking for a front wing that allows higher speeds at medium to higher wind and more forgiving for starting jumps and allowing to ride waves easily. My weight is 79kg and I ride here on the Swiss lakes mostly the 6m wing with minimum wind or in Fuerte the 4 meter. (On my kitefoil setup I mostly ride the 683 on the T38 board what I find a perfect allround wing for all conditions.) Have you tried the 899 Balz Müller yet? From the specifications I understand that it should meet my expectations. Would you recommend the S483 back wing for this frontwing? Thanks and best regards, Björn

Hi Gunnar, have you had a chance now to use 945 for prone surf foiling and any thoughts?

Hi Gunnar. Thanks for all the great videos. I'm learning to wing. I have the moses W873 and the W1000. I find the W873 really easy to use but it's so slow and easily over powered. I love the W1000 but find it exhausting to get it flying unless the wind is 20knots or more and I have got in trouble before when I was a long way out and the wind dropped. I would like a wing that is faster and more playful than the W873 but much easier to get up and flying than the W1000. I want something that's good in waves but also good to jump. Do you think the 799 or 945 would suit me or maybe the 950? I'd really appreciate your advice. Cheers

I think the 799 is just what you are looking for. Just curious, are you mounting the mast far enough forward when using the 1000 (5cm more forward than the 873)?
@andydavidson56153 жыл бұрын
@@GunnarBiniaschthanks for the tip, I tried moving the mast forward a bit more today and it was a bit easier to get up and flying. I still want something more early planing tho. Will the 799 work well on my old surf fuselage? And the stabilisers I use are either the S400 or 425, would either of these work?
@GunnarBiniasch3 жыл бұрын
Hi @@andydavidson5615 . the 799 work good on the 710, it just is not as playful as when used with the hs700. The S400/399 is the standard/recommended stabiliser for the 799 so it will work great. I prefer the looseness of the 370 though.

Hi gunnar! thank you once again for your reviews! How would you compare the 799 and the 940 (both are 1100 cm²)? And which one would be better for early planning in 15 knots (85kg, 5m wing, chop sea): w799, w945 or w940?
@GunnarBiniasch3 жыл бұрын
The 799 is better at early flying. Please remember that flat surface area is not the actual "size" of a profiles wing and will not tell you anything about how early it will take off. The 799 has a thicker profile that the 940 so it pumps better and lifts off earlier.

They are nowere near the same size the 945 is bigger . I can't say anthing about the top speed yet pumping is way better . the 945 needs less speed than the 950 to get flying . the 945 feels more loose, but that is also because of the stabilizer and hs700 Fuselage

Hi Gunnar I currently own a Kit S821100 CARBON ONDA set and use it for Wing Foiling on the Dutch North Sea - Mast M82 - Front Wing W1100 - Stabilizer S483 - Fuselage F700HS With stronger wind (>20 knots) and/or higher waves I have difficulties in keeping the W1100 under me ;-) So I am thinking about an upgrade by adding a new front-wing.
