I prefer getting a figure in vehicle/alt mode G1 style Robot in Disguise. There is something magical when the figure’s head comes in to view for the 1st time and the jigsaw puzzle of transformation is solved. Some figures only reveal their true value once they have been transformed.
@Paik4Life2 жыл бұрын
Haha the love is mutual. Also, My opinion of Acoustic was a little middle of the road too. I think I said I would have preferred MP-13 with better materials over Acoustic Wave. The transformation was overly complex for an alt mode that I felt is worse than MP-13. Same with the tapes, aside from Laserbeak, I didn’t feel that they were remarkable better than TT. Everything about the designs for Acoustic and Tapes felt dated. Are they better overall than TT? Yes, but I would f-ing hope so given how old TT is and the cost difference. But it didn’t feel like a worthwhile upgrade.

12:39 not that it really matters, but the point of fitting the guns in the legs is so they can store in tape mode as one self-contained piece, as opposed to the takara that has to store them separately in soundwave's feet. It's not meant to be used in robot mode.

Good video. It's hard to objectively say first impressions as there are so many factors. I like the tapes, but I totally agree with the hollowness in the legs if they could have made them filled in without making the tranformation insane. I feel that MP10 is the Masterpiece style I really liked. It had some complexity, but wasn't overly complicated like MP44. I wonder if some of the mistransformations are the results of QC? Like they transform certain parts to QC them to ensure they are good and aren't going to transform them back. I like when the figures come in Alt mode as that is an important thing to me. I think FT is picking the low hanging fruit with replacing the BC figures as they already know what people liked and they kid of just improved them based on feedback they saw. I'd rather get other characters rather than replacing ones that I already have because they feel they need to improve it. I really think they should have done a Blaster instead of Soundwave just because we've been asking for one forever. Next we're going to get FT Sideswipe and Red Alert to complete their elimination of BC from competition. One thing I don't understand about 3rd Party companies is when they try to make their own figures before they finish a line. Maketoys did their Crossdimensional thing and then kid of died. BadCube did their own original character and they kind of died. XTB, MMC, FT (and DX9 until they went buh bye) all did what they were good at. Still waiting on that behind the scenes video you said you're going to make about your process...unless you changed your mind? ;)

I see a lot of Acoustic Wave lovers but I am in the Bobby camp in regards to this figure. Also the Frenzy and Rumble are beautifully painted scrap metal as far as I am concerned. They're flimsy, hollow, look terrible from the back and have articulation issues in the arms because of the odd way they handled the transformation. I think Takara's Soundwave is better. My son got him at age nine and has been playing with him and transforming him very frequently for two and a half years and he still looks perfect. If that isn't a sign of superb engineering and quality I don't know what is. He doesn't have any paint chips, stress marks, loose joints, engineering issues and it literally looks brand new still. When I say my son transforms it and plays with it all the time I mean it too. This guy goes everywhere with him and has for the better part of two and a half years since he earned him. He brings it to the table when he eats, he takes it with him on camping trips, he brings it with him in the car when we are going to be driving somewhere longer than an hour. He does pretend battles with it with his brothers when they have Transformer battles. He loves just transforming him and his Laserbeak. This guy gets a ridiculous amount of handling and play from my son and it doesn't show any wear. I can't imagine Acoustic Wave standing up to even 5% of this even when people say it has better materials. I don't buy it. Takara nailed this one. I believe this may have been there all time best release.

Maybe it's because I got into MP Bots in 2015. MP-10 was my first and he's blew me away. He looked and felt like the OP from the cartoon, I finally had my hero in hand. And he came out on my birthday so I can't help it I have a positive opinion. Thank you Bobby

I recently watched some first impressions (Planet X Grimlock & Xtransbots Janssen) and they were fair. I like Bobby's reviews overall because he comes at it like a normal person who's spent their hard earned money on something they love. Not to throw shade, but a lot of other reviewers go in overly positive about this that and the other or have little to no personal opinion about a figure unless it's total garbage, which rarely happens anymore. Keep up the everyman's reviewing!

I like things to be packaged in car mode whenever the package doesn't have a window or whenever it is sold online as I enjoy the experience of the robot mode revealing itself in the first transformation. My guess about FT figures coming mistransformed out of the box is that it's all about money. My bet is that FT forms a perceived optimal assembly process for each mold/figure, and that assembly is independent of transformation. To transform a freshly assembled figure to any of its modes is probably an extra step in the chain, and so, to save money, it would make sense for FT to cut out that last step of completing transformation after assembly, especially if they do not believe that out-of-box transformation impacts the customer experience much.

For the packaging my take on it - Fantoys Huffer the toes are backwards which keeps what is front, facing flat. Perhaps they do a QC check on packaging to help ensure a better delivery. And as a side note... having just moved I really wish they would package in bot mode because having to transform them to alt mode and now again back to bot mode... if it wasn't for the other 999,999 things I need to do after moving may enjoy it... but not so much atm. I also prefer the compressed styrofoam over the plastic that Takara uses. (really finding I don't like Takara as much as I thought I did :/ )
