CWM also had built in program launcher, ssh launcher and horizontal/ vertical tiling commands.

I love this WM. My favorite floating window manager of all time, and I've pretty much nailed my configuration down to use everything it possibly has to offer. EDIT: as of June 25 2022 I've pretty much put all of my keybindings into .cwmrc, rid myself of external daemons and trivial GUI stuff like lxappearance and pcmanfm to try and get better with the terminal. It's been swell. I've had essentially made my workflow as portable as CWM itself.

FWIW, @4:50 cwm has bindings for "window-snap-{left,right,up,down}" to slam a window against the respective edges, and "window-resize-{left,right,up,down}{,-big}" and "window-{,v,h}-maximize" for resizing windows along with a keypress. I find that usually suffices for my needs. There's also a "window-{v,h}tile" to do some auto-tiling (description in `man cwmrc`) if that's your jam.

Good video. Nice to see CWM in action. It has to be good when it comes from the good OpenBSD gang. Personally I have completely swallowed the FVWM-pill. I really love it more and more for every year. And it isn´t that hard to modify. And it has to be the most powerful VM in history. Would be fun to see you do a video on it.

Thank you, I need to give it a proper look, but cwm just seemed more up my alley based off reading and looking into both. That being said I am sure I will give it a look here soon. Hope you have a good one!

CWM looks nice. I've been tempted to try a floating wm because it makes sense for a lot of applications. Berry WM has the snap left/right feature but not sure if it can have stacks to keep windows on top of others in fullscreen mode. btw are you still optimising audio on BSD? I always have to crank up my volume for your videos : P

Hikari is "insipired" by CWM (wayland only though) and is an awesome project. Should look into it, would make for a good vid imo.
@ZaneyOG2 жыл бұрын
I would, but Wayland causes many issues for me when recording and stuff. Also no Wayland on OpenBSD.

@@ZaneyOG yeah the dev uses freebsd and it was developed specifically for freebsd but also supports linux.

where can we find your dots for cwm? thanks

I am so sorry, but I don't think they exist anymore. I didn't create an OpenBSD dotfiles separate from my regular ones.

Really nice setup ! How did you record the video and audio from your computer ? And did you use a patch to get the rounded corners ?
@ZaneyOG2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No patch, just picom. I have it in it's own repo, you can find it in my personal projects on Gitlab. I have recording and streaming scripts in my dotfiles in .local/bin Hope the day is treating you well and I am scheduling a stream so if you want to ask any questions come on by. 😎

@@ZaneyOG well I tried to mess with picom and cwm and I still can't get the round corners, I'm using Linux (I tried both Arch and Alpine, I prefer Alpine but because of musl I don't know if it's the best choice) and I see the picom patch or repo for rounded corners are for bsd so idk if it will work on Linux, any tips ?😂

maybe I can install Alpine linux with xfce and then replace xfwm with cwm ? That would be much easier than config each things like monitors, sound, etc

@@4zv4l38 You just need to set the rounded corners in the config file for picom. Check my .config folder in my gitlab
