Such a beautiful place! The mosk is stunning. Also I have visited some and yes, when dressed properly and respectful, women are treated extremely polite and respectful!! Architecture is always beautiful there and, I think I told you before, the priest (whatever they are called) in the mosk closest to my Riad in Marakesh almost became my friend... We had a little friendly chat every morning when I walked by😊 Although he was well aware he could never make me a Muslim or anything else religious, he spoke and spoke and, I enjoyed our morning chats a lot. He made me feel "home" in Morocco.... Not a bad place to feel home 😊 Thanks a lot for sharing 😊

Oh that's so lovely. A few friends in Indonesia told me that it's not their belief that they should try to convert people, as they actually have overlapping history with the Old Testament but I found people were really open about explaining things to me about the timeline of Mohammed vs Jesus, how beliefs are similar and different. Indonesia has the largest population of Muslims in a country and so even in a more conservative area like West Sumatra I've talked to people about issues like what is happening in Iran and they are also concerned as wearing a head scarf outside the mosque is not mandatory, and their belief is that women have equal rights, equal access to education etc. So many people express their faith as an act of love and it's really beautiful there. So different than what most people would expect.

@@ayngelina 😊 yes and, what I found - especially in Morocco bú, also around the Muslim population here in Ireland, is the willingness and openness to actually communicate different religions - including the Western - and, interestingly I have found people from these communities, very open to communicate - also issues Westerners have and, why they are there. In fact, Muslims and a few Catholics, are the only people I have met, willing and interested in just communications about this subject - without any sort of indoctrination which is refreshing 😊 And Iran yes... I hope so múcb, to be able to visit this country some day. Let's hope.. We need peace everywhere - for everyone.... Thanks agaín for sharing - take care and, when will you be back in Ecuador??

Hi Ayngelin, i always love your video.. You already learn much about west sumatra.. I can see You are coffee lover.. Next time if uiu order coffee in Indonesia.. If you don't like much sugar..you can ask the seller.. Is it possible to make sugar separate from coffee.. Mostly should be no problem.. One more thing.. In west sumatra the family name/suku come from mother.. Example i am a man.. My family name come from my mother.. Same as my sister family name.. One other thing that important in a family call Mamak.. Mamak mean uncle.. In indonesia call paman.. And Datuak as a leader of one suku/big family name.. You can visit istana Pagaruyung/Pagaruyung palace to get more detail information on Datuak.. Actually there is formal guide inside the palace.. Last time i visited the Pagaruyung palace in 2006.. Guide tour is free.. Not sure today.. Is it still free or not.. Sorry.. It just only suggestion go to Pagaruyung palace...

Padang and west sumatra is a quite religious area. Therefore I don't think lot of people will drink beer as it's prohibited 😁😁😁😁 Sumatran coffee mostly from the northern part (north sumatra and aceh) and southern part from Lampung. For me personally, I like Toraja (kalosi) coffee.. very suitable for coffee lover
@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
There are places you can drink beer in Padang and a place that sells beer. But most people don't go to them and it's nice because at night you don't see people fighting or other problems because they had too much to drink.
