First Impressions of the 457 WHP Stock Block Subaru STI

So first impressions of the car, I LOVE IT and want to continue to build it so have some more parts on the way ( I know I have a problem, The first step is admitting it ). Anyway! Cant go.full send all the time quite yet, giving the block and clutch about a week to fully break in. With the heads being brand new and the clutch I want to give the car a few hundred miles to fully break in. BUT we do, do some 80% Throttle pulls and even with that I am stoked with this!
The tires on the car are TRASH right now so they're not holding power well at all and it has spun all 4 already. So for safety reasons there is that too.
But the overall drivability of this car is insane, The FP Black responds so well to power and spools so quickly. It honestly feels better than the FP Blue did on the 2017 STI with E85 on that car. Almost no turbo lag at all and gets into power quick and KEEPS pulling HARD.

Isn't the lash on the intakes a bit much, that is what your noise is exhaust sounds right. Remember the intakes has gas and cold air Hitting the valve. The fluid dampener is the shit, and they can build for anything. That is such a bad ass car, thanks for taking me for the ride.

The lash measurements were 👌 specs from the cam card had them set at .008" Intake .010" exhaust. Going any tighter could flatten the cam. The fluid dampers are always a nice tough 🤌🔥

4th does the same for me. I have the act 6 puck. I think the multi disk probably stop that because as it stands mine will lock me out of flat foot shifts but people with 2 and 3 disk shift at wot no problem. Maybe if I ever have a reason to pull the block that's something I'd do. To take off and not over rev I just pretty much clutch out at idle most times.

My STI at 511/436wtq crabs walks up the road slightly sideways if you get on it with my snow tires. Slightly sketchy but fun. You’ll get use to the power and not think it’s quick/fast anymore. Wait till your other cars done. Now that thing is going to be kinda scary. Good luck with the STI!

That HDSS will be very chattery for the first about 3-8k miles. After it breaks in usually the chatter goes away for the most part 🤙🏼 glad you got it together man! Think you forgot about the shoutout for the avcs gear diagnosis though 😬

@@Smeedia i would highly suggest trying out some aggressive summer tires now that its going to start getting warm soonish. I can tell you that even from the best all season tires the turn in in compa is just other worldly. The car becomes so much more agile and light on its feet! Plus with 450+ its not a bad idea lol

Get some Federal RS-PRO. I just put some on my 19 STi and they feel great. Not loud, and pretty sticky. Stiff, but they still absorb the road irregularities pretty well. Went with 255/35/19 at $150 each corner.

Tyres need to be extra load rated, otherwise you will get side wall rollover. Had this on my 05, it's dangerous. I recommend Michelin PS4, will be amazing.

Tires compound starts to degrade after 2-3 years. So you might have some old and crappy tires.

@@Smeedia on jay lenos garage he spoke to a tire maker and they informed him about the tires life span. He said he replaces his tires every two years regardless of the miles. Especially the cars he has that are capable of 200mph. It would suck to crash a 300k plus car or any at that fact.

Hey man quick question... you brought up the phantom knock. I have a 2016 Wrx and been getting fine knock learn readings at -4.3 all the way up to 2.10 no issues with the car driving wise and with the access port hooked up I got a searching idle. Then once I unplugged the access port it went away. Any idea what that could be? Only have a stage 1 and muffler delete. Want to do more but the knock is a little concerning

That is a normal value for knock, the phantom knock with my car is related to my light weight flywheel

The video with the pro subaru driver coaching the one guy said subaru are faster if you dont use the throttle in corners so I try to mimic his style of braking late and just enough and holding throttle steady in hard corners.
