On your camera change your focus areas to SPOT, this will allow to select smaller objects you want to track. Also the camera has a Bird mode that will help it track it better as well. Option 3 in the menu, Face/Eye AF > Face/ Eye Subject you can choose between human, animal or bird. It made a world of difference to me.

Thanks, I have been using the Bird Eye AF mode and it works amazing! The only issue I've had is sometimes the bird goes behind some twigs and it loses focus. However, the SPOT focus area is a game changer! Don't know why I didn't think of that before 😃 Thanks!!

@Hentacular The spot focus is a game changer, I messed up so many pictures not knowing when to use it, I thought one mode would work for everything but no.

Yeah there's quite a learning curve when you're looking for things at 200mm 😅. If you haven't already, I've found that a different tripod helps a LOT, especially a video head or a gimbal head.

I had the opportunity today and yes, is an amazing lens, I also have the 100-400GM but I was looking for more reach and it works.

I'm aussie with same camera maybe i should cop this lense too but might get a cheaper one instead

You could check out the Tamron 150-500. It's a lot smaller and lighter. However, I opted for Sony cause my thinking is that it'll have the best autofocus which is ideal for wildlife and fast moving subjects.

Nope, just the 200-600. I don't intend on getting a 2x teleconverter as I find the 600mm is enough each for me at the moment (wherever I've used it in AU)
