Hello, Deano!! I am quite pleased to complete the collection. To get 2 locos and 8 cars for about £240 or less was a nice bit of luck for me. I am still not sure why I felt the urge to get the entire collection, but I am glad I did.

They are cool in their own fashion. A bit dated in some ways, but still very cool. Now I have completed this collection and am enjoying it. I just have to get the locos working (one need a major tune-up, the other needs converted to digital).

Hello, Tom! It was a mad buy, but once I got the story, I had to have this collection for some strange reason and complete... both the set w/ a loco and 4 cars, and then the separate loco and 4 cars. That I did it at the price of one new loco is pretty cool.

Well, that nice BR101 loco is one of my favorites. As the BR111 was not in the mood to pull it's fellow experimentals, I went with a good one for sound and style! lol

Nice, I was at the Amherst Show in Springfield MA a week ago and there were many European dealers, in fact Marklin themselves had a stand with all the new items on display including the 1 scale big boy. But, looking at the Euro dealers, I saw another Marklin experimental livery set from the same time period featuring different liveries for the Silberling cars

A different set? That would have been interesting to see, for sure. From my incomplete research, these were the only sets Märklin produced from the DB design orders of 1985-1986, so now I am intrigued. I know Märklin usually has a presence at Amherst, and being East Coast, there are definitely more dealers of Euro stock there. I want to make it to Amherst some day, but it is not easy to get there from here at that time of year. Cheers for the info and comment!

Hello, dear Mark! Thanks for the words. I do like this livery, but some of it definitely feels late 80s/early 90s about it. I do like the red and white themes DB now uses, but these did have their appeal to me! Of course, most liveries around Europe today are sharper than these.

Well there are more interesting ones ... The baby blue Eurofima prototype (in ACME set 55182 / Roco 44640) The LHB Eurofima prototypes in the POP scheme with stainless steel ribbed sides

Well, I suppose "more interesting" is in the eye of the beholder. The Olympia/sky blue car is quite sharp for its day (mid 70s if I remember correctly), but overall, I didn't find the Metropolitano an interesting looking train myself. Like art (which liveries can be), we all respond to different themes and styles. Cheers, Ivo.
