First of all thank you for the video and i apologize for my english. 8 months ago ,i bought the HB TE52 and the HB TE62. Even without any modification they sound great ( for the price). On the Hb Te62 I put the alnico V pickups, the tuners and the 6-saddle bridge of a Fender Tele Player, plus Graph Tech string trees, CTS pots, 3-way Fender selector and bone nut. On the Hb TE52 I put Fender vintage 64 picks, Fender compensated brass 3-saddle bridge, Gotoh tuners, Graph Tech string trees, bone nut, CTS pots, 3-way Fender selector. I have to say that I am very satisfied with the result. I am not an excellent guitarist like you (I am studying, I am a differently young 56 year old! 😉😉), but I had friends who really play very well, try the guitars and they were very impressed. For them the Fender Tele Vintera or Performer are worth it. Ciao,greetings from Italy

Have two CV50s and got that HB yesterday. HB neck was thicker and literally perfect in every way. I was floored!! One of my CV need first fret replaced being too low. Neither brand had great pups or electronics but heart of these guitars are excellent.

I suppose it's different for different people. I love the pickups in my CV 50's Tele in as much as I still have the stock ones in after 3 years ownership...

This is really great to watch, thank You!😀 I have three Harley Bentons, 1 five-string fretless Bass - HBZ-2005FL NT, 1 five-string fretted - MB-5 SB...and a ST-62 BK Vintage Series. All I did was a little fretwork . leveling, crowning and polishing, the fretless got a brass nut, the ST a GraphTech TUSQ, and I am happy with that Instruments! For my 4-string Cort i made also a shim, looks nearly exactly like Yours, but it is maple veneer!🙂 I live in Germany.

Another Harley Benton which needs fret work, such a shame they can't increase their prices by £20 or so and spend 30mins longer on the fret leveling! Cool vids BTW man! 👍👍👍

After a while the truss rods make the neck s shaped, and the strings put a twist in them. To fix that we have to take all the frets of and sand the finger board level and re profile it. Then re fret it and adjust the frets again after it is re strung. A few microns makes quite a difference. It takes quite a long time, but necks are only going to bend and twist so much. Once it is done we get a well playing instrument and it will probably stay that way.

Thanks for running through the process but I would have sorted the fret ends before all the fret levelling and then clamping it in an engineering vice, even with the padding you could have undone your meticulous work.

I am considering getting one of these as a modding platform, the bodies on these are now poplar, I would prefer an ash body and so I will look to see if there are any old used ones on the market, I have many Harley Bentons and have never had one with sharp frets and only two that I needed to do a complete fret level, but I level them all if I have more than 4, back in the '80s I only ever had one guitar that didn't need a fret level, that was a 1984 Squier Telecaster, in fact the guitar didn't need anything doing to it, that was strange for an '80s guitar. One of the things I like about this guitar is that that it doesn't have the horrible orange tints that many Teles come with these days. Did you end up buying one of these? if so are the edges of the fretboard rolled? Those £100+ Bumblebees that Fender were selling were the exact same 20 pence components I had bought for prototype circuits with a shrinkwrap Bumblebee cover on them, they were not quality componants.
@FretFriendGWaL3 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew... No, I did not buy one of these but I seriously considered it. I am sure with a few tweaks and some upgrades there is a very good instrument there. I personally prefer the Squier Classic Vibe series of guitars. I have had a CV Tele from new for around 4 years and it is still all stock and wonderful! I know all about the Bumblebee caps :P I actually have one left over from a project I did for a client (there was a spare which I paid for and kept). at the end of the day, a cap is a cap so even 5c cap will sound exactly like a $100 one so long as the measurement of capacitance is equal. Regards, Victor...

The new HB T52 VT series have the "caramelised" roasted look neck, and its not roasted at all it has a liquid type finish coating all over the neck, as it can be scratched off, leaving the natural colour showing thru so it is Lacquered
@frankhall70052 жыл бұрын
Lol hey stooge you won't get real roasted maple neck on a $130 guitar. Putz
@leewhite2195 Жыл бұрын
The colour has come off of my neck in a couple of places recently.If I liked the guitar I'd take all the colour off as I don't like the new brownier neck.Don't know how much they changed but mine is super heavy and the neck is really thick.I think they might have been tweaked even further since I got mine as the thomann site specs now say 12" radius and mine is 14".I should have sent it straight back but started messing with it.Ended up buying a pink te62 and I love it.Incidentally,there's 22 frets on my te52 which I thought odd.

Classic Vibe all the way for me. Fender sized and very good spec. I bought my CV Tele 3 years ago and barring the saddles/bridge-plate (Wilkinson compensated) it's still stock. It did need a fret level mind but it's a fabulous guitar...

@@FretFriendGWaL thanks! Why wouldn’t you buy a te52 yourself?
@FretFriendGWaL10 ай бұрын
@@stealthbum34 Because a Squier Classic Vibe Tele is miles better and I have one of those. I don't think the Harley Benton's are great value considering 90% of the ones I ever had in needed a complete fret level: a time consuming and expensive job. If you are fortunate enough to get one that needs no fret work, then they are worth it...
@FretFriendGWaL10 ай бұрын
@@stealthbum34 It's just a personal thing! I've seen enough of cheaply built guitars to know that even though there are good ones, good ones are few and far between. I would much rather pay more for a used guitar with a proven track record than a cheap one to do up. Don't get me wrong: there will be the odd exceptional cheap guitar out there but you need lady luck on your side to find one. Harley's are too inconsistent for me. Personal choice...
