First kayaking trip! Instruction & Royal Palace paddle to Drottningholm | Kayakomat / Point 65

This video shows new kayakers Sanal K, Barath, Satya, Jaishin MP, and Gokul receiving an introductory kayaking instruction by Patrik Vuorio (who runs the Air On the Water channel) at Ängbybadet in Stockholm on July 16th, 2023, and heading out for their first kayaking trip (second trip for two of them).
They used #rentalkayaks from #Kayakomat Ängbybadet (#Point65 hardshell kayaks), and through coordination of Fredrik at ‪@KAYAKOMAT‬ #Ängbybadet, and a referral by Amelie Amy Perninge, I was requested to provide an introduction to kayaking before bringing these guys out for a paddle.
They did well and learned about kayaking, safety gear, and basic paddle technique before heading out for a paddle on a windy day to #Drottningholm #RoyalPalace and back. Well done everyone!

What fun! The group looked like they did really well & enjoyed every minute of their trip. Water was a bit choppy but they handled it really well. It must be quite amazing to be able to paddle to a Royal Palace on the water! Stunning!

Thank you! Yes, they handled themselves well - water was ok initially, but on the way back the wind pushed waves through the narrow canal to make it a bit more challenging. The Palace is definitely nice though, especially for a first paddle trip! You have to stay outside the marker buoys though as it's a restricted area.

@@meandmyoru Here in Stockholm, you can also paddle in front of the Royal Palace in central Stockholm. Always a nice feature in the center of the city!

Are the Point 65 kayaks the nesting kayaks? So people can rent the kayaks from a vending machine? What a great idea! Does each kayak come with everything necessary to paddle? They did really well for mostly 1st timers. Paddling to a Royal Palace would be a very cool experience.

Yes, that's right. It's quite common in Stockholm, where you see a lot of rental kayaks from different places in the center of the city in Stockholm - a nice way to see key city locations. This is another spot further away from the city. Yes, each kayak comes with a PFD, paddle sponge, paddle float and bailer or bilge pump.
