TesseracT is progressive metal. Five members (2 guitarists). One of my absolute favourite bands.

Ahhh, I was drawing a MAJOR blank on the first 2 songs I reacted by them. (The other one will be uploaded soon) Prog metal, I should've known!

I believe the song is from the perspective of 'Juno', a spacecraft designed by NASA to observe and study the planet Jupiter. So when Dan is singing "Won't you reveal yourself to me?", he is speaking to Jupiter, as Juno. Fun fact also; The moons of Jupiter are named after the Roman God Jupiter's mistresses, whilst Juno is named after Jupiter's wife/sister. So NASA have sent Juno into space to keep an eye on Jupiter! haha Love the reaction! You should check of some of TesseracT's work from their album 'Altered State'! :)

@@Guitarz4Lyf No problem man! 'Altered State' is split into four sections; 'Of Matter' 'Of Mind' 'Of Reality' 'Of Energy' They have a fantastic video of them performing 'Of Matter' live in the studio. I'd recommend that one. They had a different singer with Altered State as well, so it's a different vibe and everything. Cheers!

tesseract kinda helped invent 'djent' with bands like periphery and meshuggah. it really is just onomatopoeia describing a very short/percussive stroke of a string or chords that is most often palm-muted as well. it's a very rhythmic take on guitar instead of only melody. these guys are known for their well produced, pristine sounding albums. and this is because the guitar player (acle) and the bass player (amos) are engineers in their own right. the irony is that their best album, altered state, was during a time when their main singer (dan) left to sing with sky harbor, where i believe dan's best performance was on 'blinding white noise'. the replacement singer (ashe) knocked it out of the park on 'altered state'. he then went on to sing for voices from the fuselage.

TesseracT are one of my all-time favourite bands. It's prog, the atmospheres they create are awesome and they're just as good live as on the record. They've changed vocalists a couple of times. Dan Tompkins who's singing here was the singer on the first album, then Elliot Coleman, then Ashe O'Hara, and then back to Dan for the last two albums. Each album is a different feel, and they work much better listened to as a complete piece than as individual tracks.

So cool, and that makes sense. i love it when artists or bands make complete projects like that where it's really one big puzzle and each track is a unique piece to that puzzle

I'd put it in the following: * Progressive metal (odd but not too odd patterns + philosophical lyrics) * Djent - the bendy noise * Groove metal - syncopated rhythms and what not, there's probably more that I don't know.

1:26 this is not a china cymbal, sorry. It's just a regular crash cymbal, but it does sound awesome.
@Guitarz4Lyf
@Guitarz4Lyf 4 жыл бұрын
Ahhh, it sounded quite similar to the China cymbal of friend of mine had.
@mahockey3
@mahockey3 3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it depends on the cymbal. Perforating or heavily hammering/not lathing a cymbal can make it sound really trashy, so perforated crashes can sound like a hybrid between a normal crash and a china. Maybe Jay was using a perforated crash here.
