First LITE Beer EVIDENCE found at 2024 Onalaska Beer Show

Highlights of the Omni Center Winter Beer Show in Onalaska, Wisconsin (La Crosse Area) on January 20th, 2024.
Found some old advertising for a different LITE beer that was before Miller Lite released their brand. This Beer Sign Show also had many beer cans, beer signs and other Breweriana collectibles that you’d be lucky to find at an Antique Store, Flea Market or Yard Sale for your garage bar, mancave, home bar, or tavern.

Agree - I also find it interesting how much text were in ads long ago - like they had to explain their product. I guess people had enough attention span back then to read copy in ads.

Ken, you were correct in your original comment that Lite from Miller was introduced in 1973. It was marketed in several smaller areas of the country and went national in 1975. Check out the Matt Snell "Lite" commercial which is from late 1973.

Meister Brau "Lite"was bought by Miller.

And before that, Meister Brau (actually Peter Hand) purchased the process of making light beer (patented by Hershel Gablinger) from Rheingold Brewing in 1966, who made the first true light beer. It was made in New Bedford Mass, at the old Dawson's Brewery, under the name Forrest Brewing Company. It was called Gablinger's Beer. But Rheingold did not use the name "Lite". Still, Gablinger's was the first real "light" beer to use that formula.

Welcome to the Channel! Sometimes you find some good prices on eBay and sometimes they are high. The only other sites I know about would be auction sites as well. I think if you like the item and are willing to pay that price - have fun with it.
