First Look: 2022 Spring Creek National

Welcome to the Racer X Films First Look, previewing the Spring Creek National in Millville, Minnesota. Jason Weigandt and Kellen Brauer preview one of the best racetracks on the 2022 schedule and highlight how recent weather both prior to and on race day could set up some great racing. Alex Martin, Jeremy Martin, and Phil Nicoletti have some fun chatting about the race and how JMart will do in the TV booth. Then Weigandt and Brauer discuss the status of the 450 and 250 classes with Eli Tomac nipping at the heels of Chase Sexton and Jett Lawrence retaking the championship lead away from his brother Hunter.

I think he was 8tb after the first lap. I looked at the first timing and scoring when it came up and about 4-5 turns into the first lap they showed him in twelfth 💪🏽

You can't say if Tomac gets better starts than Chase he wins. He came from 12th on the first lap last week. I bet if they had a stat for who passes the most people in a season Tomac would crush everyone.

How many passes/being passed in a season?! That would be a pretty cool stat that nobody has done yet. I bet you can figure out how to put it together, maybe from the beginning of the sport. Hannah was usually terrible at starts, (and there were decades when the best guy could come from last to win.). I bet he would be right up there. You should do that. It would be good experience for you, and cool information for everybody else.

@@jessemccollum937 That is a great ride today, (sans the start), but the tracks did separate the talent more, and we used to see guys come from last to win. If you ever saw one of those races, you would actually remember that race for the rest of your life, with no doubt who has the most talent. Another difference is,---that rider would win the MXofN too.

Call me a dreamer but is it too much to ask for Eli and Chase to go into the final moto tied on points and then start one two and have a championship/ moto win/ overall win battle royal ! And neither dude crash, make a big mistake or lappers getting in the way .. at that point I think most dudes would literally be looking around trying to get the hell out of the way of such a legendary battle .. Ya uhh Eli passed him at hangtown and won the moto, high point and won the moto, thunder valley and won the moto, southwick and won the moto .. and all 4 motos at red bud and southwick sexton that far off Eli so the whole it’s coming down to who starts in front of who is complete bullshit .. now the argument that when one of these two wholeshots or gets the lead really quick and the other guy is around tenth or something definitely out of the top 5 being a deciding factor for the win is actually makes since .. but unfortunately for chase Eli has had crazy speed in the past and came from the back and won races at pretty much every single track coming .. even unadilla but it was on a 250 .. but for 450s other than Ironman where Eli has won and is always really good at but just hasn’t had crazy speed come from way back wins like he has at Millville, washugal, fox, and buddscreek .. ya chase is good at washugal but Eli is better .. ya chase dominated rd 1 but until Eli got arm pump even with the bad setup Eli was right there and then just managed the second moto .. I mean ya obviously starts main lot but pretending that both guys started top five for the rest of the year I’d say chases best chances at beating Eli are at unadilla Ironman and buddscreek .. honestly I believe if you took starts out of the equation Eli would straight up beat chase every moto for the rest of the year .. but I do think chase has some great speed and will definitely put up a fight but I think Eli has more speed and chase has more too but knows he tends to make mistakes when he pushes and he’s desperately trying to kill the crash or bust label and become a consistent podium threat so ya chase isn’t going to beat Eli playing it safe unless something crazy happens .. I just really hope the championship doesn’t come down to a bike failure or a big mistake or racing deal out of their control .. I’d just absolutely love to see these two get great starts every moto not crash and may the best man win and actually have a real championship fight going down to the wire .. I honestly can’t remember the last time a motocross title went down to the final moto with a single digit points spread between first and second and even if that did magically happen have both guys actually get decent starts and battle for the win and the championship.. I can remember so supercross titles going down to the last race with pretty close points but motocross especially in the big money class it’s definitely been a minute .. Eli and marv was the closest thing I can remember that one year but even then they basically were trading off bad motos and Eli out bad moto ed marv ..
