Not sure why the last owner chose to buy a replica original 1911 only to replace half the parts.

@Horror-Fan1313 I don't know either because the changes made to it don't lend it to any specific purpose that I can see. That rear and front sight is not the original USGI rear and front sight nor that firing pin block safety for what should be a series 70 pistol. That is a perverted 1911. Haha. The only reason to put in a firing pin block safety is to be able to lower the hammer with a round in the chamber so it does not have to be carried cocked and locked but that thing degrades the smooth clean breaking function of the trigger.

Could be he wanted an a1 that’d be more useful to carry. Not many 1911’s come with the arched msh anymore. I personally love the 1911a1 and find it to be my favorite pistol to shoot. However, the short trigger doesn’t fit me as well as a long one and we can all agree gi sights suck. The wood grips are also just classy. Something like this is a guilt free way to put modern features on an a1 style gun. At least it’s not an old, real 1911a1. And the AO comes in a commander version too, which is amazing.

That was my first pistol I got back in circa 1984 brand new for about $350 so I worked that pistol into a bowling pin gun for matches by working/wearing in the slide rails, tightening the barrel with tighter barrel bushing and barrel lug, adding a recoil spring and guide rod buffer kit and Pachmayr rubber wrap around grips. Also had a local licensed gunsmith polish the feed ramp. After the work/tune up it ran like a champ. USGI mags. Very accurate Thompson Auto Ordnance USGI 1911A1 .45ACP. I wanted it to be as factory USGI stock as possible while still being able to use it for a bowling pin gun. The only real visible alterations were the grips that I needed to have a firm enough grip on the gun to shoot bowling pins accurately. The standard USGI grips just did not get the job done for that purpose. Mine was a series 70. Lot of rounds through that pistol. Wish I still had it. Thanks for sharing. P.S. I later had a used Argentinian stamped Colt 1911 series 70 that was already modified to shoot competition matches with Novak rear sight and higher front sight and I think it had a commander style hammer also if I am not mistaken but that pistol was never meant to be a USGI pistol. It was a work horse competition or match pistol.

I bought one in 2011, pkzsew, the old model number. Still have it to this day. Definitely, will be getting a couple more. The new model is 1911bkow for AO.
