You cannot base their progress off of this. It is very common to put work into scenes that will come later specifically for the purposes of marketing.

Interesting question tho is, how long will season 2 be? 21 episodes? 24? 26? 20 + film? I'm betting on 24 but ahh, getting excited again. And yea, a mini ova-series on side hijinks would be beautiful :D Even like a chibi-sidepieces

@@dig1taltoasteri was a little disappointed that they didnt adapt the bonus chapter material as sort of end of episodes gag tbh. i was sort of expecting them to be like the little bits at the end of hxh episodes where they explain the world to us lol
@meesheronicles5 ай бұрын
@@jemleyeIf they stick to exactly 2 chapters per episode, it would be about 22 episodes, and there’s a lot of supplemental material that fits into the story that can be added. The only thing is that the page count of the chapters is a little inconsistent (40+ pages vs 9 pages) so some episodes could cover only 1 chapter, and some maybe 3 chapters.

Some of your reaction might be cause of the Dumplings 1-2. It is a pretty comedy heavy two chapters between two emotional ones (Senshi's Backstory and Bacon and Eggs discussion the anime ended with). However, the Bacon and Eggs part was perfect for a season finale. Everyone's backstories are seemingly settled, side characters are on the verge of something interesting (Kabru, Namari, Shuro and the elves), and for the first time after Falin's resurrection, the gang finally has a clear 3-step goal to strive for, built up to through the last few episodes (eggs discussion, Izutsumi's body, Faligon's massacre, Golden Country and the Winged Lion). It brings back the elves and Kabru & co's situation, it shows what Thistle and Faligon might be up to, and let's emotions take over, reinvigorating the characters' and viewers' dedication to saving Falin anew.

We're more than halfway done in terms of chapter numbers (52 out of 97). However, the following arcs are *packed* with content, so I'd say we're halfway through the plot.

episode 24 ended on manga's chapter 52 there is just under of 100 chapters, so likely, s2 will also be its final season
@gristen5 ай бұрын
yea they left off on the best place they could have tbh. after this we sort of enter into a new arc which wouldnt have been a great place to end a season. you'll see why they wrapped it up now when season 2 episode 1 is out, its all gas no breaks after this lol. thankfully they've been really accurate to the manga so far besides leaving out a few minor scenes and lines every once in awhile. we'll probably only need one more season to complete the series if they give us another long season of 24 eps like this one. if they decide to break it up into cours tho than we might get a season 3 too, but i dont think theyre gonna do that

The manga has 97 chapters and the anime currently catches up to chap 52, right in the middle. I think they end the season here is perfect timing, give people a break after all of that crazy things, recall for what has happened and set clear the next goal. ( 2:40 Anyway, I've read the manga for the next chap and find it makes sense for the pacing to cut it here tho)

As a manga reader I do think they dropped the ball in the ending of the season. For most of the season they were adapting exactly 2 chapters per episode but I think this became more and more inadequate as time went on. The chapters became more dense with story and some are even longer in pages, but still adapted in the same way regardless. The Senshi backstory chapter is the prime example, it was a longer than average chapter with a lot going on, I feel it would really be worth giving it more time to breath but instead it got relegated to the first half of an episode, not even the the climax of the episode, just the first half. And the following chapter was not even well served by that, because it is a two parter which could benefit from being a single episode. I think they really wanted to end on chapter 52 and I kinda see why, but I do wish they ended a bit earlier and gave themselves more flexibility on how the episodes were constructed. Another good ending point would be the talk with Yaad, for example. I also kinda feel they shouldn't have brought the Western Elves this season, since clearly they aren't going to do anything yet anyway (their chapter could easily fit at a later point in the story). At the end I disagree they "did the best they could with the actual pacing of the manga". Because at the end of the day, this is not the manga. Like, yeah, the events were all strictly in the same order, but in the manga there wasn't a major break between chapter 52 and chapter 53, which is something that will happen in the anime. And there *are* smaller breaks between portions that are part of the same episode (even if you are reading the volumes, the anime often bungles the last chapter of a volume with the first of the next). The pacing of the manga take those things into account, when a chapter end, or when the volume end. The pacing of an anime instead is about the episodes and the seasons. By just placing all events one after the other without paying attention to the breaks they weren't actually recreating the manga pacing, they are just making a badly thought out anime pacing. To be clear, I don't think the anime is bad, far from it!It is, in fact, pretty good. But this *is* a flaw of the adaptation in my view, and I think it is largely because Trigger is not used to adapting manga like that. They are probably being quite conservative with what they change, which is good if it prevented them from fucking stuff up, but still means that aspect of the adaptation is quite weak.

Honestly the working relationship between Netflix and Trigger, from everything ive heard is that Netflix agrees to distribute it outside Japan, but really is not involved in production at all other than so requirements like must have an English dub premiere at the sametime.

I think season 2 will be the end, but i would be VERY pleasantly surprised if they did some animations of the extra comics. Also! If i heard correctly Netflix isn't directly responsible for the Dungeon Meshi anime. If Netflix cancled season 2, it would just mean a different streaming service would pick it up. I say, if we get a release date thats not TOO far in the future, wait for it. Watching your first time reactions and theory videos is very entertaining. However. If its too far out. I would not blame you for reading it. The my second read of Dungeon Meshi was my favorite lol

the anime left off at chapter 52. i'd personally recommend you read up to there while you wait for s2 to drop, but then stop there and wait for the rest of the anime to come out instead of reading the whole manga (assuming you're planning to continue making reaction vids, that is.)
