I was super unsure about how Germany would perform at this year's Euros but ever since Kroos has come back into the squad they seem to have finally started playing very well with each other. Call me crazy but I think France will have an awful tournament. The whole motion of being considered favourites puts huge pressure on a team even as world class as France. They were Euro finalists in 2016, World Cup winners in 2018, and World Cup finalists in 2022 and I just have a gut feeling that they can't uphold this streak of success much longer. On the other hand, I really found the Czechs as an interesting underdog in qualifiers, they play good football (I remember the quick destruction of Polish defence) and definitely have historic legacy of doing decent at several tournaments. They may not have the names (bar Schick, Hlozek or Soucek who are respected players) but I think there's potential there.

England is always relatively high in the betting odds but mainly because more English people are betting on games. Even when nobody believed they had a chance, they were top 3. but England has won one tournament in all its history and that was in 1966. The big national teams like Germany, Italy, Spain or France all have multiple tournament victories. Germany actually has 7. England is much better than they used to be and they have a chance to win but they barely played finals or even semi-finals in the past decades.

Pep Guardiola says he believes England are on the verge of a major tournament win, & compares it to his City going close for a few years before finally clinching the Champions league.

With England, there's always been the talent but no real vision or chemistry. Back when England had the likes of Beckham or Rooney, you would imagine they'd be favourites but somehow it never clicked. This time though, there's definitely something more to it, it's just a question of whether Southgate will be able to utilise the Bellinghams, Sakas and Fodens of the team.

I think the current England generation is the first in decades that is actually World Cup material. But often that’s not enough - not just for England. France is a football talent machine and is also consistently behind their potential and nobody ever got close to the dominance of Spain in 2008-2012. Even Germany 2008-2014 only managed one World Cup title. Belgium and the Netherlands had golden generations that walked away with nothing.

@@jm-np4mu England and actually every national team takes every game seriously even friendlies. How come England haven't lost 4-0 in friendlies then? In the last 100 years? There were Interviews after that game where they said the English players were extreamly upset after that game and couldn't believe it. Also most of their A team players did play that game. It was also a big part in the players trying to prove themselves to make the world Cup squad list. Of course the game has a different vibe then let's say a world Cup final, but nation's league is not something teams take lightly by any means. One could say that the first 1-0 game could have been taken a bit lightly but then they would have wanted to get them back the next one at home. They went down 0-1, then 0-2. I don't think they would have just been like oh well whatever who cares. Then at the end they loose 0-4. Their worst lost since something like the 1950s.

Belgium simply just doesn't lose... Yes last world cup was a disaster. That's why we dropped points. But other than that, we only lose to big teams which doesn't shock the rankings that much. In World Cup 2018 we lost against cup winner France, and in Euro 2020 we lost against cup winner Italy.
