Hasbro reached out and got me on a plane to see some new Nerf products. I was one of a handful of people who got a chance to see what the new Nerf N1 dart is all about and what the Nerf N Series is going to entail.
Join this vlog journey as I get to Rhode Island, meet some people, test some new Nerf blasters and discuss about the Nerf N1 Dart.
Not only did Hasbro provide travel, food and lodging, they sent out free products of the Nerf Series blasters.
You’ll also see cameos in the video:

I think those regulation details are the most interesting to see from your guys' trip to Hasbro. A real good peak behind the curtain of "hey there are some strict rules we have to play by and they are ever changing".

@@RyFiChannel yeah, I’m glad you understand these things. I hate how other KZbinrs cough* walcoms7 cough* just shits on it without doing some research as to why Hasbro doesn’t just release 90 fps dart blasters.

While hobbyists may not like the new dart I think kids will love the improved performance of the N series dart as compared to Elite darts. I think with the number of “Elite” blasters we have in our collection the N Series will be a sub series for home battles much like our Vortex or Mega blasters.

I was beginning to think I was the only one who understands where 90% of Nerf blasters are actually aimed at (both figuratively and literally). 😂 Kids will always be the primary market, because globally it's so much bigger than the hobbyist market. I think kids will appreciate the extra performance and accuracy, along with a few adults that don't take foam flinging too seriously. 😁

@@another3997 I wonder if hobbyists even make up 1% of the “Nerf” market, I don’t believe Hasbro releases units sold data so it’s just speculation but my guess would be no.

I do love the idea of redesigning the darts themselves. Everyone has been putting so much effort into new blasters, but theres been virtually no dart design changes aside from reduced length.

I'm glad some reviewers are starting to understand why some of the decisions have been made, both now and in the past. It's important to remember that the main audience for Nerf products isn't collectors or adult hobbyists, who probably only make up 10% of the userbase. Hobbyists want (and apparently EXPECT) Hasbro to make products geared towards them and complain bitterly when it doesn't happen. Without profits from sales of the kid's Nerf toys, there won't be money to make small numbers of "pro" blasters for hobbyists. That's never going to be a particularly lucrative market for Hasbro.

All I just want is still use half darts and im happy with my life. This is going to probably be big as an alternative ammo but i don’t predict it to be the king in hhe world of foam flinging

Maybe, maybe not. Hasbro set the standard size for darts many years ago, and everyone followed them. In terms of sales and global awareness they're still the market leader, so chances are they will still outsell the competition. Whether the others will stick with Elite size darts or move to half darts is unknown. Half darts haven't become standard so far.

I basically quit using full-length darts, so I'm not losing out on much during this "mass migration" to N1. As for the whole "regulations in Europe" thing, we can use 14+ blasters in the Netherlands... but they're not sold by big-box stores: either you buy from Krijn at Blaster-Time, or you have to import it from abroad. Nerf Pro still isn't sold here. I really hope they do release it outside of the US in some way, because I love my Stryfe X and want more Nerf-quality superstock shells.

My biggest question is, are the N1 darts reverse compatible with elite blasters and vice versa? (N-series able to use elite darts)
@RyFiChannel
@RyFiChannel 4 ай бұрын
Nope. N1 darts will get blocked by dart posts, and are slightly larger in diameter so they won't work in Elite

@@Teku66unfortunately, due to global laws on projectile toys, they had to make the darts a different shape to reduce the amount of joules, while also making them go faster.

Personally I am not looking forward to the new Dart Designs. Though I like that they are trying something new, it feels like the wrong step to me. Instead of just going for Waffle-Heads or maybe finding a new, better form of front dart end, instead they are choosing the change the rear-side which means that they probably wont be compatible with many, if not all old nerf guns. However if they found a way to make old darts compatible with new guns, I wouldnt mind as much.

They should’ve just made a better elite sized dart. Is it even more accurate than an Adventure Force Waffle head?

Why should they? Like any business, Hasbro want to make money. They also want to stay in the number 1 spot, so like many other companies, they decided to make unique products that are protected by worldwide patents. It's commonplace, far more so than many people realise. Everything from phones and computers to cars and aeroplanes use proprietary designs under licence. So far, other manufacturers have basically copied Hasbro's dart sizes and blaster designs. If they want to do that now, they will have to license the design from Hasbro.

@another3997
@another3997 4 ай бұрын
No, a small per percentage of Nerf users, let's call them "the hobbyists" want half darts. That doesn't constitute "the people". Nerf is owned by Hasbro. It's their product and they're the market leader globally... so they set the rules. 90% of their end users are kids, and kids won't care about half darts that are easy to lose. They won't be using 200fps blasters either, not in the home or small garden. Parents will see to that. There are other companies making blasters, although half darts still aren't standard, outside of a few smaller manufacturers who cater for hobbyists.

that seems like such a bad decision. they have to get rid of thousands of moulds for their old blasters, and get rid of much compatibility. forget nerf at thiis point, i've had enough.
@another3997
@another3997 4 ай бұрын
They get rid of moulds anyway, because each blaster design requires a new one. It isn't a big deal for Hasbro, because each production mould will produce tens or hundreds of thousands of parts. What you're missing is the fact that competitors can no longer just copy Hasbro's dart design without permission, as has happened in the past. Proprietary products are everywhere, most people use them all the time without realising.
