This really is unique to rock islands line up only offering in stainless steel. Fit and finish is great. That said I agree with tisas, rock island better be focused or they will lose a lot of the cheap 1911 market share to tisas

Very nice stainless. All the RIA pistols I've used have been reliable. Just keep them clean and lubed. Good presentation 👍

They definitely know their 1911s , I had some issues with their m206 revolver with how gritty it was when I brought home and it wedged the cylinder release to be inoperable. Which was a easy enough fix and parts were cheap so it worked out in the end

Those are ACT mags that come with the RIA. I’ve always had pretty good luck with them. To me, the worst Mags come with the Kimbers. But as others have commented, Wilson Combat Mags are the best, followed closely by Tripp Research Cobra Mags. The polymer style followers feed extremely well.

I have not tried a Wilson mag, but with my experience with their parts they are well made and nicely finished

Great looking gun!! I have been looking at a few like the Tisas, Charles Daily, The EAA Girsan MC1911S Untouchable, the new Taurus commander, The Kimber LW, and out of all of those guns the Rock Island feel like a Rock for real!!! have you done a follow up video shooting this yet?

Honestly the rock island stainless is one of my tightest fitting 1911s I’ve got. I believe I have a short uploaded shooting video up.

Stainless 1911s are beautiful and easy to maintain. Ria did a decent job on this one, sure some of the small parts are not the greatest quality but they still work and is more aesthetic than anything. The frame and slide on this stainless model are some of the best finish work I’ve seen rock island put out

love it very nice. I had the full size model but parkerized and no front serrations. It was a great gun. I gave it to my son for his 21st birthday. I was thing about getting myself another since I no longer have a 1911 and was looking at the Ruger SR1911 but now I may change my mind to save a few hundred dollars. If you had only one to chose would you keep the ruger or ria?

Well ruger has better fit and finish so I’d probably pick that, also trigger feels a bit better. But that said the rock island has some stuff the ruger does not. To throw a curve ball, I’d possibly consider a Springfield garrison , a lot of quality for good value

Ya I would have like a bit darker grips. These one are just kind of unpleasant. I always liked rosewood on stainless. But hey it’s an easy enough remedy

I painted those little black holes on the sight with white nail polish, with a toothpick.

It’s honestly a pretty good choice, it feels a lot higher quality than other rock islands I have. Stainless doesn’t hurt either .

You mentioned tight tolerances did u have trouble replacing ur slide stop pin? That thing was a little tough replacing for me at least lol

Absolutely, cheap mags still work maybe just not as well. Always good to have back ups even if they end up being back ups to your back ups

Just found a CS Officer model 56829 in 9mm for $449 plus tax. Nicest Rock Island I have held and first in stainless steel. Good overview on you full size.

Really any 1911 holster is good to go with this. But I kind of like VERSACARRY decent price a mix of kydex and leather. Crossbreeds are good as well.

The trigger style is the one thing I don't like on RIA's 1911s, they look cheap and not visually appealing. I prefer the three round hole the best.

I have to agree with you. It’s a simple enough part to change out but on their more premium lines it should be nicer triggers for sure

I am not sure why, but those triggers still looks like the ones they are making in the 70-80s. RIA modernized the design of the hammer, serrations, grip safety except the trigger. They have solid non-skeletonized triggers and they look better.
