Don Carr, you are just phenomenal at gear demos. Consistently! Your playing is tasteful and beautiful, of course. Beyond that, you somehow always manage to find the perfect balance between highlighting features while remaining brief - and interesting. Thank you for this video. The Amped 2 will now be added to my Must Have list.

This is a great video. I always enjoy your guitar playing, Don Carr. And your videos are always so thorough, intelligent, and concise. Thanks so much.

whew. I have a typical nauseous response to Blackstar but this pedal is super versatile and sounds pretty good. Thanks Don.
@tramer76 Жыл бұрын
Hopefully the noise floor is a bit lower in these compared to the Dept 10 pedals. I really liked the sound of those but had to return them because they were too noisy for recording

Blackstar, hmmm, sounds like I like it! Play some more please. Great vid, thanks for sharing 🤘

Looks great, but looks to have minimal options for clean amp to very dirty as two channels. instead you're selecting a gain structure and adding to it with boost pedals. AMP1 by BluGuitars doesn't have the FX, but it does do amps/channels.
@davidmerlin3344 Жыл бұрын
I have a couple of questions. (1) Is there a noise gate on this unit? (2) How do you compare this on clean to the Quilter Superblock? I have been highly considering the Quilter as a pedal platform. I do like the idea of having my own separate pedals. BUT, I am open to something like this. I have heard that Blackstar has something else coming out in April or May that even ups their game on this unit. Just hearsay.

Great pedal, amazing all they’ve put into this. Great review🤘🤘

Honestly, it sounds great and, if I understood correctly, it basically serves as an amp head, so I don't need to buy an active cabinet?
@sweetwater Жыл бұрын
Morning Alex, great question! This product can be used with a passive cabinet via the power amp out or direct into a PA or a powered cab via the line out. Is there a way to have separate banks? Like a clean channel, a dirty and a lead, all separate? Looks like you can only add or subtract effects to the same (1) channel?
@bengirard1984 Жыл бұрын
I'm guessing it will work with MIDI but that's a big flaw in my opinion. I have a Bluguitar Iridium and apart from only having a reverb for the fx side, it's really well thought out overall and convenient. I thought you could choose between 3 types of clean and the drive section was the distortion(and same thing, 3 different types of distortion) with this Blackstar, but it's only a boost/overdrive. Not being able to switch from a clean to a higher gain channel on the pedal itself is a design flaw imho. Oh well...I'll wait for the Bluguitar Amp X ;)

Gets some good sounds but why no channel switching or presets ? I wouldn’t buy unless it had these features? JMO

How do you change patches with knobs while it’s on the floor ?
@nigelsmith721 Жыл бұрын
You don't. It's effectively an amp with a drive footswitch. Remember when that was enough?
@joemiller9856 Жыл бұрын
Looks pretty cool. Switching between amps live might require bending down and flipping a toggle switch if I understand correctly. Not thrilled by that otherwise might just do the trick for me.
@JamesVanD Жыл бұрын
It has MIDI controls, so you could have a simple (or complex) midi switcher for that.
@geetargeek79 Жыл бұрын
Does it have preset capability? Not the cab rig, but stored sounds.
@sweetwater Жыл бұрын
Hi, and thanks for your question. Via the CABRig switch you have access to three presets on the device. You can store infinite presets on your computer and upload them into AMPED2 as needed. My only complaint is 1, it is only single channel and 2, the 2 buttons that turn on the tuner are too far a part for a single stomp. Other than that I do like mine a whole lot and use it live often.

If your running this straight yo front of house do you still need a DI
@sweetwater Жыл бұрын
Hi, Kapricorn Music. The Amped 2 has a balanced XLR output with cab simulation. If you use that output you would not a need a DI box. If you decide to use any of the other outputs, a DI box would be necessary. Thanks for your interest! Charlie Davis, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1320, charlie_davis@sweetwater.com

They missed big time not having channel switch feature. They should have done same as NUX Cerberus. Amped2 Manual says:”Local Patches cannot be saved to your amp. They can only be recalled and loaded to your amp when connected to Blackstar’s Architect [software]“.

Poorly thought out pedal. No way to switch clean/dirty/more dirty. Unusable for live playing unless you use pedals with it. 😂. Or bring a MIDI board …might as well just stick to pedals and an amp. Less hassle.
@hansmeissner734 Жыл бұрын
My complaints: Soloing sounds harsh and artificial in every video I've seen so far. Plus: No second gain/overdrive stage. Therefore pretty unusuable live. Maybe better for clean playing - but then you'd miss to dial in intelligent compression. IMO an entirely unbalenced product.
