Hi there. Just received mine. Wonderful set from my favorite album of his. I played 2 discs so far and it is amazing.

We just need a box set of all of Mick Ronsons's Bowie tracks from the 70s.

Nice review. It's odd how old records that could do with remastering might lose something in the process - Lodger is one such example in Bowie's back-catalogue, its murkiness is part of what makes it distinct from Low and 'Heroes'. Those photos have come out very well from the Ziggy era - particularly the ones of the psychedelic hot pants!

This is a great overview! My set (and the stand-alone LP) will be arriving tomorrow, and I'm extremely excited. Having listened to some of the new mixes and demos through streaming, I don't think this is going to be played as much as Divine Symmetry for me. That demo of Star is killer though.

Interesting video, as always, but this time I didn’t look that much at the screen (only listened) since I am buying my copy today and I didn’t want any spoilers :-) Bowie boxsets are always great.

Is there a booklet or lyric sheet inside the sleeves (the single lp one) ? Thanks!
@PeKe9997 ай бұрын
@@Johanson0543 Hi No lyrics sheet. Just plain black polylined inner sleeves.

Looks like an amazing set. But I just pre order the single album version. I have the big Who Next set and I’ve rarely touch a lot of the bonus discs. These big sets just don’t seem to interest me now and so expensive too. But it does look great ! Enjoy

there is zero reason to rip the shrink wrap off as all the content slips out through the side, which is why my copy will never experience finger marks all over the cover. amateur. The ad for the book was interesting as I already own 2 copies of it, one $50 version that I read and one $1200 version that is boxed away with a stack of box sets that are slowly taking over the room.

I get it if you're a completist and wealthy. Some of these things cost a fucking fortune. Personally I'd rather buy four or five new albums than a box set of the same old songs 'remastered/live/demo/acoustic/ etc, etc and a book.
@Wishful-Thinking7 ай бұрын
Hugely expensive yes but that’s because these types of releases have limited appeal, ie to fans who are completists like you said or fans like me who are fascinated as to how the mind and talent of someone like Bowie worked towards the finished product. Because of the limited appeal I guess the retail price reflects the price point the record companies need to charge to make such a project viable. 🤔Personally I’m far from wealthy but I’m happy to miss out on a few pints down the pub or cut back in other ways in order to afford this. That’s life, you make your choice and make the maths work for yourself in order to be able to afford it. It’s a fantastic box set btw which such an iconic album fully deserves.

Demo recordings…..does anyone really listen to that stuff 2 or 3 times? Always seems like a waste. I have all the Zeppelin deluxe boxsets and I never listen to anything but the original recordings. The demos are great to check out a few times but that’s it. I’d rather have live recordings added. Cheers✌️

I couldn't agree more, listening to demo versions and out takes just confirms to me how much I love the finnished versions on the original albums. I'm sure a lot of people who buy these kinds of archival releases never listen to the whole thing once let alone two or three times.
@Wishful-Thinking7 ай бұрын
Me! I listen to them more than once because I’ve been a David Bowie fan since 1972 and I am hugely interested as to how a genius like Bowie worked his way to the finished product. Endlessly fascinating which is why these types of box sets are aimed at the likes of me and not you.

Except New Order’s Movement, demos and early outtakes are as good as their album and listenable

Disappointed by another expensive box set from his early 70s recordings. They’d have released expanded CD sets from Station to Station, Low or Scary Monsters albums
