First Look: Hisense Sero 7 Pro Android Tablet From Walmart

I would consider myself a tech snob, this is the 3rd review I've watched for this tablet and I am going to buy it as soon as I can; so, thank you for the solid conclusive review. For those wondering I am buying it for the HDMI out and SD card slot. For the price, it is tough to beat brand new.

For someone whom has wanted a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7-inch tablet and even considered the Google Nexus 7, this Hisense Sero 7 Pro is a tablet I've leaned more and more towards. Each video I've seen and every video I've seen- including yours- is helping me to go more towards the Hisense Sero 7 Pro. It has many features you just can't really argue against compared to other tablets in its category. The big deal maker for me is the microSD slot. Great and detailed video.

It came today, I bought it 120 euro. It is really fast, wonderful display, 2 good cameras, really good sound speakers, beautiful tablet for the price. Really recommended

Excellent review as always, Jeremy. I picked up a refurbed one for $85 on Newegg's eBay store, definitely a steal for the hardware. Great little tablet to use as a beater to take around with. Leave the Samsung Galaxy or Nexus 7 tab at home. The Sero 7 Pro rooted with clockwork or Serolicious is more than capable for any user. Bug ups to Hisense for making a budget tab that can hang with the big boys!

Can you recommend a decent quality headset with in-line functions (FF, RW, Pause etc) that works well with this tablet? The in-line functions on my current set don't work. Best wishes from the UK.

Great, in depth review that showed scrolling, browsing, gaming, the screen, the camera, screen angles, etc. Every tablet review should cover these basics. Thank you. This looks like a smoking hot deal. I could do without the Walmart/Vudu apps, but at least it's not loaded with adware like Amazon does to the lower priced Kindles.

I ended up pulling the trigger and buying one. Walmart site said it wasnt available at the stores near me, but I went in anyway and they had about 5 in stock. Bought one, spent several hours with it. I also work at a retail store that sells the Nexus. All I have to say is this thing blows the Nexus away. The only thing the Nexus has over this is the actual screen itself. I highly recommend buying one of these. I even got the 2yr warranty for only $15. Not bad at all.

I'd like to note that the issue with the feel of the back panel has been, at least to my knowledge, fixed in newer iterations of the Sero 7 Pro. The one I recently bought feels entirely solid, no give to any part of it, though one I had prior did suffer from the back plate give that you described. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Other than that, brilliant review, brilliant tab!

great review. One thing that i have not seen mentions.. is that the back camera also has a flash, which is virtually unseen on any tablets. Pehaps you can do some demo of that.. also try it with the magnifying glass app.. to show closeup viewing.

When you were taking a picture of R2, did you select the MACRO (icon of the flower in the pop up settings)? They may help it focus when you are taking a shot of something so small from so close.

got one a few weeks ago, yes it does have light sensor for automatic brightness and gps, awesome tablet for the price. you can even use as a console gaming system with the hdmi out port cabled to your tv and a moga gamepad. also with the tegra 3 you can play the best android games on it

A very good review... tackles most of the issues. We know about the CPU and other hardware. Please let us know about the GPU. I have been trying to find out about the GPU ever since I heard about this tab. Also, is the screen scratch resistant? It most certainly wont be Gorilla Glass or Dragon Tail, but it should be at least scratch resistant. I also heard the back camera has a flash... hope you tell us more about it. But, ... tell us about the GPU. thanks

I'm wondering about the specs that state under Audio Decoder Support, "M2TS/MPEG-TS: AAC/AAC+, AAC-LC, AC3/DTS, eAAC+, MP3/MP2. Does this mean it will play ripped Blu-ray movies? Or does it mean it will decode Dolby & DTS audio?

Great review. Have you reviewed the Asus Memo Pad hd7? I am still on the fence between the Sero 7 pro and the Asus Memo pad hd7. Now the Sero 7 pro is at $129. Memo pad hd7 at $149. Would like to see a comparison of the 2.No nfc and hdmi out on Memo pad but comes with 16 gb storage. Only 8gb on Sero 7 pro. Both have sd slots tho. Looking forward for a possible review, thanks!

yup I have 2 of them, it can play all the latest games. I had it hooked up to my big screen tv with the hdmi output and playing the with moga gamepad controller yesterday, wish it had more than 8gb to install programs though. even though you add a 64gb card you still can't move the apps to the card without rooting

That is perfectly normal for a Tegra 3 Device, there is thermal overload protection built in, if it overheats it will just reboot, so I wouldn't worry about it, its probably more noticeable on the Sero due to the thinner case.

Looks like the case that isnt available until June has the front camera hole in the center of one of the sides, when the camera is actually in the corner. I would like to find one that keeps the ports exposed and can charge the tablet with the case closed. I sent an email to the company about the June case about the camera port to see what they say.

I just picked one up. I own a Nexus 7 and spent the afternoon comparing. This tablet is nice. I could not tell any difference in picture quality between the two or speed in accessing websites or apps. . Also, not sure about the problem with vudu that you had, but Netflix, HBO Go, and Dish Anywhere loaded right up and had excellent quality streaming. My concern is the brand and it's reliability. Unfortunately I won't know about that for a while.

just got a nexus 7 and love it but STRONGLY feel they should have included a rear camera. That's the reason I found out about the Sero and then seen your video, ty for the review, will be picking one up for testing and if it is satisfactory, then will be picking up 5 more for family members.

Great review man, I may buy one for my girlfriend, as I have a Nexus 7 for myself already. Wish I had an micro SD slot in my Nexus! Hopefully the Hisense will get CyanogenMod on it and get that Android 4.3 on it.

NetFlix installed from Google Play and runs with no issues on mine. Hulu runs fine, as well. I'm quite pleased with it.

I bought one of these when the price was $129 -- I was not disappointed, as it pretty much matches my first-gen Nexus 7 both in specs and real world use. My only disappointment is that the 32GB version is not available in the US. Even with 16 GB, I can't complain, I use cloud storage for my ebooks and music, so there is still plenty of space left in RAM.

I've had my HD 7 for a week now...and...IT KICKS ASS! Asus is a known brand, while this Hisense (Chinese) still has to prove its worth. The price difference is minimal, I would get another HD7 in a heartbeat. The only con is it's average gaming performance when it comes to some heavy fx titles...which is irrelevant for me since I do my gaming on the PC. I did a lot of research before deciding, and I'm extremely happy :-)

I bought a 7" Kocaso which was also well made but I couldn't download the Netflix and Crackle apps because Google Play only recognized it as a generic Chinese device. Can you install them on this one?

You can at least disable Vudu if you don't need it so it won't show up on the main home screen. It's a small annoyance but I'm glad they at least said so in the "Quick-Start Guide" provided with the tab.

Thank you for the review! I am still so POed at the way Google treated me as a pre-order customer when they released the Nexus 7 that I have sworn off ever giving them my money on a direct order ever again, so the Sero 7 Pro just might be my payback. Maybe the camera is in the corner in order for both front and rear cameras not to be butted up against one another - this way the thickness of the case can remain narrower. If anybody gets Hulu+ to run on this, plz post that.

I've had this tablet for over a month now and I could care less about the brand name. This thing is identical to the first Nexus 7. I have absolutely no idea, but years ago I jumped on the Vizio wagon for HDTV, and I think we know where they have gone. Hisense makes some really sharp looking TV's, who knows, maybe they'll be calling it The 2018 Rose Bowl Presented by Hisense.

Had(somebody stole it!) this tablet for a few months and its just as good(if not better) than my cousins Nexus 7! The addition of the micosd slot puts it over the top. Good tablet for the price($129). Bought my daughter a Sero 7 LT($89) and its not as good as the Pro(touch response, viewing angles, processor and storage) but good enough for a kid to use.

Read the ratings page on Walmart. You can guage how happy people are. I have already seen these tablets being sold as Refurbished models. If you can afford a Kindle Fire HDX 7 you will not be dissapointed. If you do not mind the skin that Amazon puts over normal Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 it is a great tablet. Uses the best chip out there Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2ghz with Adreno 320 Graphics Processor. I got mine last week on Cyber Monday for 175 plus 15 to not have any Special Offers shown on the lock screen and another 20 to upgrade to 32gb of memory. You can choose 16 32 or 64. I would use at least 32 and then Amazon cloud for everything else.

Take note of battery life if your lazy to charge it but it warns you so you do battery % lowers even with charging, the charger USB is shitty if you tap it it unplugs and it will die at a low percent if you tap it. thats the only bad thing

I would just wait for the new Nexus 7. It is rumored to have a snapdragon processor, 1080p screen, 2GB of RAM and more. It is most likely going to cost $199 like the first one.
