Historic Launch Complex 36 is being built from the ground up and we have invested $1 billion in the project. Here’s a first look at the pad - including the “Road to Space” New Glenn will travel on prior to flight.

@@KingLordLele I guess it's because most people here are more familiar with SpaceX's development philosophy. Instead of spending years designing and building the structure to support your rocket, you can immediately tackle the problem of building and flying the prototypes and in the meantime get the buildings and launchpad ready. Doing that has also shown how flexible SpaceX can be with the design. Decisions that aren't optimal can be detected early in the process and changed for the better.

Cape Canaveral LC-36 rebuild, at the south end of Missile Row, is substantial ... largely privately funded. This is the first new launch pad built, in the past 55 years (since KSC Complex 39), to be able to handle a launch vehicle of this size and thrust (Saturn C-3 class). Since SpaceX had LC-39A and LC-40 dedicated for Falcon Heavy & Falcon 9, Blue Origin had few options. SpaceX selected Boca Chica, TX for this its Starship development phase.
