The time has come! I have a new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 50th anniversary to review. This watch was purchased by a friend of mines a few months back and IT IS NOT FOR SALE lol. He loves it!! For this variation it's all about the dial. The new green dial is what makes everything about this watch. In this video I will also discuss all the other new features about this new AP chrono model.

Hi GG I’m still waiting, I messaged my sales rep at AP House a month ago to find out what’s the latest only to find out he left 2 weeks prior which puts me back a bit as I felt I had a good relationship. My new sales lady said realistically it won’t be until next year now so my 50th anniversary is out of the window. I was told by her that they only received two 41mm stainless steel green dials chronograph this year? In hindsight you probably did the right thing buying grey market but when I was told “ by the end of the year” at list you hold on to hope😩 Are you in the uk & how much did you pay?

Hey Eric, they are producing 50,000 watches this year but only 22,000 will have the 50th anniversary logo on the rotar. There is circa 400 stores worldwide. AP will reduce production back to around 40,000 next year and all these watches will still be in production but without the 50th anniversary rotar.

@r2l100 hey, as you can see from all the big brands all watches sell for a lot more that retail price. AP, Patek, Rolex etc all have their recommended retail price but as there is so much demand and not enough watches for fill the demand the secondary value sells for much much more than retail price. Supply and demand! In the UK at steel chrono AP is recommended retail price is circa £29k but secondary price on chrono24 they are asking circa £130k, the operative word being asking but weather they are selling for that is another question. I hope that makes sense.

@r2l100 You make a valid point and a lot of people have been saying that the brands should increase their retail price point. However as the authorities dealers hold back watches and create a shortage and as long as social media creates a hype about these watches will always get a premium on the secondary market. I have been very lucky as I have been buying watches for over 30 years and the retailer know me and I get watches at normal retail price. However if I wasn’t lucky and I could only buy on the secondary market, I would rather not wear a watch and use my mobile to tell the time. These watches are a work of art and ever since I was a child I had a passion for watches and use to read about them and as soon as finished university and could afford to buy a nice watch I did. Sadly these days social media as driven the market out of control and everyone wants to give it large on social media and show off their watches and show off their fake wealth. We live in a sad world and I as an older person I blame social media. I can remember only a few years ago you could walk into a Rolex retailer and purchase a Platinum Rolex Daytona with 15% discount and am talk 2018. Also you are trying to put on a economic head on your discussion and it is very wise thing to do and say, however in this crazy market nothing makes sense.

I was offered the white dial 26240 st by the boutique in Early March, at first I was going to turn it down but then it was a 50th anniversary model and I wanted a white dial before , but the previous 41mm bracelet was too loose on my tiny wrist, however when I tried this on, I was able to wear it. It seems to have a better fitting than the old 41mm but the case was a bit thick,. I decided to get it anyways and have not regret the decision. The green looks good, but amongst my SS sports watches, it was the white dial that I was missing.

Eric old boy it's pronounced O der mar. AU is always pronounced O in French. Haute couture, haute cuisine etc. You are correct to drop the t of Piguet so you should also drop the s on Audemars. Lovely watch and interesting video as always.

When i got my ap chronograph i loved it think about it prices are kind of as much as a rolex but ap gives it that more money look for your buck and ap give you more business look yea a Rolex can past but when you see ap you cant stop thinking of AP or how to get one i ben to ap branch in las Vegas i fill like im part of the an ap branch when i walk in but the 50th is pretty sick just wish you can switch the dial

With a chronograph, it is cleaner without the symbol AP, I love this green 50th anni piece. With the plain watch such as 15550st (37mm) without the letters AP it looks a bit asymmetrical, personally I prefer the old 15450st version.

I was never a fan of date at 4 - 5.... like, an afterthought place to put the date somewhere to just cram it in there. looks cheap. at the very least they could have printed the datewheel so it is upright at 4 - 5 but noooo they just used a 3 marker datewheel. AP messed this one up... This is one watch I would not wear.
