For anyone who hasn't noticed when you finish an enemy the usual way it gives you very little experience whether it's civilian or survivor however in his first stage planet crusher actually helps evolve if you hit a civilian or survivor with it and as far as I know that is the only skill that levels up to phase 3 I have tested this and it is actually interesting you legitimately have to fight in order to level up
