@@Matrix803 makes sense, almost all Sega Genesis/Mega Drive consoles came bundled with a 3 button controller and not a 6 button controller (but the Genesis 3 or any other special edition).

I’d like to see new 3 button Genesis/Megadrive controllers because you don’t always need 6 buttons unless you playing Street Fighter or something like that. The 3 button is was first released with the genesis. New Master System Controllers would be awesome too because sms fans would love new sms contollers cause you put in the Power base converter makes it feel more authentic.

I have an original 6 button and 8 button Genesis controller the 6 is heavily used but still works well. I'll be picking up the black and blue controllers for use with the Genesis when they come out. Wow this is so awesome!

I must say.. When Sega first came out with this controller, it changed the game!!! They were a street fighters dream! I never understood why Sony never made their d-pads this way.. I still love that controller.. Easily top 5 all time.. Only the Xbox controller S came close to these imo

PlayStation was heavily inspired by SNES and that console basically grandfathered the video game industry. Sega had some far out controllers, things would be different if they had won.

For starters the L+R buttons on the USB version weren't on the original controllers. (not sure if i love or hate that).

Really excited for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis 8 button USB controller. Don´t collect old consoles but i do enjoy playing retro games on my pc. The majority of third party "sega" controllers mainly seems to be cheap junk so it would be great with a controller that actually have decent or even good build quality. So i just need to own one controller to fill my sidescroller need once in a while. :)

These will go good with Hyperkin mega sg..which is also a super wonderful product .!... Wish they had a filter option to add..colors to the image To smooth it out. A little its a wonderful product

I don't care if it's bad or not since i'm in love with Sega Genesis controller. But when it comes that 8 button USB Genesis arrvied on Indonesia then my house, the d-pad isn't bad at all. And the feel when i'm holding the controller, well that is for what people in late 80s and 90s hold the controller while playing its favorite Genesis. game. But overall after had the Genesis controller and after seeing what was that controller is, i love this Retro-Bit conjunction with Sega - Genesis USB controller so much. 😁 👍 🤗 🖤 🎮

I wish I knew about these last summer. I would of waited half a year for these new controllers. Last summer I wanted to buy off eBay a USB Mega Drive or Saturn controller to play Steams MD/Gen Classics with. While there were plenty of third-party non-official ones that looked exactly like Sega controllers I wanted to buy an official sega licenced one. I found out that Sega Logistic Service did made USB controllers based on the Saturn pad but they were more than £200. I maybe an enthusiast but that was a bit too expensive for me. The only other available Sega controller that I had to settle with were the PlaySEGA controllers. I'm pretty sure SLS made them also and that they're the exact same in make and fuction but cheaper due being white with dark blue buttons instead of legitimate colours and apperance of Saturn controllers. I think it would be just as great if Sega or Retro-bit release an official "DE-9 to USB" converter. That product alone would allow controllers from Mega Drive and its predecessors and lots of other consoles for it's time to be used. DE-9 was the norm for both computer and gaming consoles back then. If I had such a convertor to begin with I wouldn't of needed to buy new controllers.

Must get hands on. I definitely want to get my hands on the transparent blue Genesis original port and the slate grey Saturn original controller. Maybe I’ll get the black USB (despite the fact I prefer the original + USB adapter method) ones for my brother since he loves the colour black. I’ll try to have them work on my PS3, PS4 and Switch using my adapter but I’ll need the Titan One or Two or the Cronus Max for the adapter method. I became more obsessed with Sega’s consoles because of this. I want to try using it towards Genesis collection and BlazBlue (especially towards BBTAG because of the new character, I’ll need the Saturn controller to play as her because where she’s from reminds me of Saturn-era fighters) and all other fighters among it. I wonder if it’s possible to work it on PS2 or any console like that. Probably could. But asides that, I love you Retro-bit and Sega!

No, 8bitdo sells a DIY kit (just the PCB, not the shell) to upgrade the original Pads to bluetooth. ...i guess that could possibly work with these pads here as well? (the ones without the L+R buttons would be worth a try)

Some games released early in the life of the Genesis were not compatible with six-button controllers, which came out several years after the Genesis launched. So the Mode button had to be held down when starting up the Genesis to force it to act like a three-button controller, which every game worked with just fine. Also, a handful of Genesis games actually assigned in-game functions to the Mode button or used the Mode button for cheat codes.

If when the wireless versions come out they work on the switch they will be better than the Super Nintendo controller because they'll have two more face buttons I'm talking about the one with the extra start button and the two shoulders

actually I and a friend tested this, and it do not work on overclocked at 10MHz Sega , only the original ones (3 and 6 button|) work with most game if they are stable (not work means that Start and C buttons do not register press every time)

Really wish we could get some real info on how exactly the d-pad feels. THAT is the most important thing about these. The original has one of the best d-pads in all of gaming history, and that last Hyperkin release did not get it right, despite looking the part.

As a genesis collector I've tried a lot of 6 buttons, but none measure up to the original hardware I'm curious as to how these would that being said "a hefty price" is not what I payed for my 2 original ones. (One was brand new condition, the other a refurbished) both ran under 30 dollars. I paid 20 for the refurbished, and around 25 for the new one..... I'm not sure if that price has changed, but I spent ,less on them than my in box sonic 3 or shining force 2 so, even though these are licensed I wouldn't say it's too much more if someone is seeking the original hardware.

How do these compare with Hyperkin and/or Retroflag's efforts, because, I honestly can't fault either. Both Hyperkin for traditional wired playing on your original Megadrive/Genesis or Retroflag for its usb controller.
